So earlier this week, I was bored so I started I went onto youtube. I was looking through the videos recommended to me, and I got one that was a video of catching Origin Form Giratina. I'm not much as a Pokemon game fan as I used to be, but I thought, "Ok, whatever. I've got nothing better to do." As I'm watching this video, I'm thinking "Hey, some of Giratina's body parts look like objects on Sandbox's forge pallet." I start up my Xbox this morning, and I compare some of the forge objects to the actual thing. And my find, it could work. In other words, I'm thinking about making an aesthetic map of Origin Form Giratina. It looks like this: Now, I've never forged an aesthetic map before, but I'm willing to give it a try. But the real reason I wanted to make this thread, is to get recommendations on something else on the map. Should I build a level around it? I'm making the model of Giratina in the dead center of the Skybubble. It is quite possible that I could make some sort of playable map based around Giratina. I was thinking along the lines of a Territories gametype, where the attackers spawn on Giratina as their base, and the Defenders have to capture territories stationed around Giratina on a ring around it. So, any other recommendations?
yep i would build a map. if you just make the model, then a picture will be all that is needed to see it, however if you build platforms and whatnot around it then people will download and play the hopefully good map. yes, build a map around it, even if it is nothing complex, but try to weave the playing field into the structure, if possible. just so it isn't just aesthetics and can have a double purpose. goodluck
this is where my pokemon geekyness comes in! in the games you see giritina in the torn world,in there, every thing is crooked, and misplaced,so I would build the map like disoriontation,or shift. (both featured if you wanna check 'em out.) also,I like the idea of making it on sanbox as it looks likes been petrified. good luck!
Build Griatina first, then see what you have left over. If its enough to build a map around, great. I would go with halo kid's suggestion and model the rest of the level after the distortion world.
Many times throughout the movie Ash and them go through different tunnels and there are lots of floating columns. Giratina also goes by the structures pretty close. In the skybubble of Sandbox would be the best place to make this. It has potential to be very authentic.
I used to love pokemon games. So basic and yet fun. This isn't a bad idea, but like others have said I would try to create tunnels and distorted areas. Maybe use teleporters to confuse people and it would support the idea of a distortion world.
Apparently, I need to plan this out more. You guys are telling me things I don't really know about, so I guess I'll have to look into the Distortion World a bit more. I only named the thread that because I knew that's what the name of the place was.
One-bomb is a good idea. Blow up Giratina! One flag is also good... Design everything so that it is distorted and looks like it was randomly tossed around.
Thats why the bom-pokeball is larger than usual pokeballs (and why it blows up=P). Anyway, this sounds like a great idea, I used to play the original pokemon games and a pokemon-themed map would bring back some serious nostalgia. If you really want this to be a great aesthetic map, you should incorporate some sort of pokemon themed gimmick in the map like a game type where people try to "capture" Giratina with plasma grenades (pokeballs) and "giratina" fights back (people on the giratina structure). This would probably be a infection game type with the zombies being the people and the humans being inside giratina with different weapons on each body part like firebombs and lasers in the mouth (flamethrower and hyper beam) while there are frags/rockets in its claws simulating other melee attacks. I hope this inspires you and if I can think of anything else, I'll post it here for you.
