Map Title: Artifact v2.4 Symmetrical Team Based Objective Map Download Map Description: This is a symmetric map designed with game play in mind, to be used with objective game types, but also holds up well for slayer. Best played with 8-16 players. This is my first map, but is designed with game flow in mind, with weapons and equipment placed accordingly. Each base consists of a large base structure, containing a "main base" and a "garage" area. Between the two is a connecting bridge/walkway. Located in the center of the map is a three tiered temple, which gives a view of each base, while providing adequate cover. Several smaller structures are placed throughout the map to provide enough ground cover for players on foot, and to make vehicle drivers show their skills. Slayer, CTF, Territories, Assault, and KOTH variants have been set up. Check it out. If you think it looks like a good map, please download and rate it. The map and the bases look nice, but the space between the middle base and the actual bases looks a bit empty. Other than that looks nice. 4/5
Thanks for the positive words so far. The middle areas are open enough to drive around, but are much tighter in person than the pictures show.
This map is one of the better custom maps I've ever played. This map is perfect for a capture the flag match. Keep up the good work Flingtoe!
Thanks. Due to my enjoyment of objective game types, I tried to design a map with that in mind. I am working on a new map, which will be smaller, but also designed for objective games. Keep an eye out for it.
Does anyone else have any constructive criticism? I am looking to perfect this map, and need more feedback from those who downloaded it.
This is a pretty solid map. I like how you chose to make it asymmetrical; it separates it from all the clones being made on the ground floor of Sandbox that all have a slight layout change. My main problem is that some areas of the map lack finesse; the upside-down corner-wedge holding the rockets and power drain for example, along with the various small blocks places throughout the middle. I know you did it to add cover, but one isolated object by itself just lacks some flow. Same thing with the occasional objects floating around by themselves. Your 2-base setup is good, but the rest of the map seems a bit 'scattered.' Try, not necessarily any more bases like the two team bases, but create some small mini-structures, and cut down on the amount of floating objects and jumps.
I understand what you're saying. I started off with the map being based around the central structure, but as it progressed, the bases became the major focus. I think I need to come back to it with a fresh outlook, not influenced by the original ideas I had for the map. As far as the floating objects, those are due to my lack of imagination in having those structures exist in any other way. I thank you for your opinion, and the time you took to express it.
