Action-Reaction Scenery as for now is including - triggers and switches, fusion coil chains, and a weapon dispenser, more to come soon.

Im posting here to see how many different kinds of action reaction maps people have made, and to see if any new ideas can spread out.
firstly, I'll explain my idea of action-reaction, then show a few maps of mine that can actually explain it in an ingame situation.
To me, action-reaction is something that when a player performs a certain action/task in the game, the scenery will respond in abnormal ways, an example of this would be the basic fusion coil chain, and the basic gravity lift "elevator" where when you destroy a grav lift, another one will spawn and create a lift.

I myself have two maps complete that show this, and am working on more. The main thing I want to see in future maps is more reacting scenery orientated maps starting.
Here is the list and pictures of the Triggers and Scenery-Reactions I have tried creating, and please, after reading, reply and show some work on triggering systems you have created, or want to create.

basic crate triggers- These triggers are created by pushing a crate/pallet/movable object between an immovable object (teleporter) and a immovable object that can be destroyed/removed in game (powerups, turrets, and maybe a few other objects that i dont know about). The moveable object will float and remain there as a temporary immovable object. Once the destroyable immovable object is removed, the crate will no longer float and will turn back into a moveable object. Once this happens, gravity takes over. You can make the moveable object launch away, by putting the immoveable object and immovable destroyable object inside of the movable object. This usually has wierd/ not consistent results, and I reccomend by just barely putting the immovable objects inside of the crate, just so about 1-2 inches of the object is inside the crate. In the turrets case, once the turret is DETACHED the crate would fall.

My Power-up trigger (one sided) created on a testing map (once you grab the custom, the box falls)

My Turret trigger (one sided) created on the same testing map (once you detach the turret, the box falls)

A basic fusion coil chain, created on Uproar.

    turns into

Uproar's fusion coil drop was created by a fusion coil chain going from the center to a grav lift, destroying it, and the grav lift that was holding several fusion coils then drop.

I am in the process of making a TWO-way trigger which relies on the consent of both teams to be opened. I am guessing it could be used on any map other than a zombie map, one sided maps it might not be the best either.

Yet again, thank you for reading and please try these systems out! Soon we may see a new generation of maps that have reacting scenery, and wouldn't that be amazing. If you have any ideas for a new, undiscovered action-reaction, feel free to post or pm me, and we could try to make it possible.

    New update, the weapon dispenser.
I have not seen any map with anything like this, and may be a bit over-elaborate for most maps, but sure gives a good taste of ascetics and is practical too!
This is basically, just the power-up trigger like above, but this time you have to block off where the crates drop, except for a tiny crack on the flooring.

The crack on the floor, will allow you to pick up powerups, even if it is completely sealed off behind the wall (fence in this case). after picking up the power-up, the crates will resume gravity, bringing the weapon placed on top of the crates, with it. In my case, I have placed teh rocketz on top of the crates.

    Have fun with the power-weapons.

Feel free to remake any of these, and if you do, no credit is needed. These techniques are free to the entire forging comunity, and were "made by" no one person in particular. Another way you may be able to make this, is just with the power-up, and a weapon on top of it. This way will only work if the crack is pretty small, and won't look as good, but will easily fit on the smallest of maps.

Re: Action - Reaction scenery (triggers)

I think the first place to comment is thanks ... this is more or less a prelude to the Promo we are working.

Remember that if you make a switch... have other ways beside it to get some where or.. have a another choice... not every one going to love your switch...

Of course, many people will react badly to the change they havent seen in maps before, so good ol' walking through an opening is neccesary on every map.

I wholeheartedly agree. That was the fatal flaw of my Temple of Doom map. Nice little summary. Thanks for posting it.

Good post; thanks for the summary. I actually used the fusion coil - grav lift combo for a siege map. The attackers would spawn behind a high wall, and eventually they would find a pathway that took them upwards, where they could shoot some coils and spawn a grav lift that boosted their team over the first wall.

I don't understand the necessity of a "weapon dispenser" except to eat budget. Weapon holders and respawn times work well for me.

No, if it isn't broke, or even ugly, don't try to fix/beautify it.

Well, sometimes maps need something different than other maps to look nice and get more attention, even if it is a small detail like weapon placement. Things like this could get you a few more downloads, and in my opinion, weapons on top of weapon holders look extremely ugly. What looks decent is floating the weapon holder inside of a box/ppiece of scenery, than floating the weapon on what appears to be nothing.

Eh, I made a Warthog dispenser only because I needed it to fit with the theme of my map. That's it. A weapon dispenser always seemed a little superfluous to me.

Seems unnecessary, unless you are doing it to limit access to the item.

Can you link me to the warthog dispencer map?
Also I think the fusion coil chain makes maps work a lot better.

No. I was making it, and then I accidentally deleted it. You can steal it if you want; I'm not exactly what you'd call a proficient Forger.

Basically, the name of the map was 'Warthogs, Inc.' The whole idea was that it was supposed to look like a Warthog making factory. In the middle was the Warthog Dispensing Unit.

I have an idea for a gate that is only opened from the inside

I have not tried this out uet but my idea is to have a movable object floating in the air and for these objects, all u have to do is touch them and they fall , so once the defense gets inside, they can then shoot the object releasing it into flight and onto fuision coils that blow up, thus opening the gate.

Sorry for the incredibly long run on sentence I just made but tell me if u think it is possible cause I have an idea for this

Thanks also for all the other tricks they are great

This is definitly possible, I've already done this on the first pic. Once you touch the power-up, the box falls. I could help you with it on your map if you want, ive always wanted to try focusing a map around the gate idea.
