Air Pressure A Brief Description This is a 1v1 map created by MattDGiant. The map is Foundry. Here is the link to the map and gametype: Air Pressure 1v1 Slay Background A group of scientists were working day and night on their new Mjolnir armor suit. If it was good enough and meets all standards, it might've been worn by the famed Master Chief. Maybe. The suit was designed to be worn in all terrain. Think of it as a 4x4, but instead of a car, a suit of shining armor. The previous Spartan suits have been similar, however this has been tweaked and modified. THe scientists wanted it to work well underwater, in deserts, mountains, space, and everywhere else. It would be perfect. The following is a snippet of a digital diary recording. The author is one of the scientists, Dr. Lennon McHale. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 25 Today we begin work on our new testing facility. IT will be used to determine the effects of air pressure on the suit. Other pressures have all been tried and the suit has overcome them all. The testing grounds we plan to construct will be a small, almost arena-like structure. There are multiple levels to it, where our Spartan test subject will be asked to perform normal tasks such as shooting, running, and jumping. We believe the suit will defy the effects of the air pressure. If not, well, lets not think about that. Day 29 The grounds have been completed. We begin testing tommorow. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The testing soon began. Each activity was performed at multiple altitudes. First, the use of weaponry. The strength of a Spartans throw was vital to grenade design. Both soldiers and scientists needed to know how their throwing arm might change when in a higher altitude and experiencing pressure. The results came back that noting changed. A spartan could throw as well as he could on the ground on top of a mountain or flying in a machine. The next test was running. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day 33 Today we ran into one of the more significant problems. Until today testings had run smoothly and without error. However, our tests on running under pressure took a sudden halt as we realized one of our greater design flaws. There was only a narrow walkway at the uppermost level of the grounds. It was hard to run around up there because of the limited space. We have taken a break from testing in order to figure out what to do in our current predicament. Day 36 We have fixed our problem. A large, treadmill-like object was built in order to simulate the running. It was succesful. We have also noticed that air pressure doesn't effect running. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The only test remaining after several weeks was that on jumping. Now jumping is very important to a spartans survival. Jumping is needed to evade bullets, get to higher places, and get into tricky places. It can even save your life. The test on jumping were simple. The test subject simply jumped where he stood. The height and strength of his jumps were measured and recorded. However, as the soldier moved higher up the pressure began affecting him. His jumps would falter and lose strength. At the highest level in the facility his jump was only a portion of what it was on the ground level. This failure in the suit could not be solved. The scientists could not figure out the problem. The Spartan was just as perplexed as they were. NUmerous tries at tweaking the prototype armor all failed. Eventually, the project was called off. The confused, irritated and frustrated scientists left the facility. They could not take it anymore. THe suit was dropped. It probably wouldn't have worked very well anyway. The testing grounds and surrounding facility was abandoned and cleared out. Hundreds and hundreds off years later, the military was looking for somewhere to train their Spartans. They wanted to train soldiers in tactics for One on One battles. If a soldier wasn't trained for that, he would lose the battles everytime. Many abandoned stations, buildings, offices, and houses were taken over and converted into arenas and training areas. When the Battle Scouts stumbled across the empty facility the saw it as the perfect place to hold their training sessions and practice simulations. It was converted from a lab into a true arena styled with death pits, shield doors and weapons. The original testing ground's terrain was kept, as it included many interesting features like hills and many different levels. Little did these soldiers know about the history of that place. This story explains many things. Firstly, it explains the name. Secondly, it explains why you will have a harder time jumping near the top of the map. The story has been proven true. THe next time you go to the top of the map, make sure you try jumping. It will be different than you are used to. Features Air Pressure contains many things. One of the most prominent are the death pits. Although they do not contribute to the game very much, they are very cool. They are obstacles that MUST be avoided, unless u wish to be kiled by the guardians. NOTE- I have heard a complaint about lag because of them, however none of the games i have played have lagged at all. The map also used a great deal of interlocking, a cool forge technique that allows for objects to be placed without having to worry other objects being in the way. Make sure you rate it and comment it. Seeing as this is my first entry in the competitive maps section, I would LOVE some constructive feedback. Tell me what you like and don't like about the map. Thank you! Aww who I am kiddin. Nobody reads notes from the author anyway.
It's kind of hard to see whats going on with your map from the pics try pulling out and getting a wider shot just a suggestion but what i did in the tight areas i went into forge and selected the object that was in my way and had it not to respawn at start so when i took the pic i had enough room to move around and just remember to go back and put the object to spawn at start but like i said just a suggestion
no im @ work right now im just giving some advice on how to help get u more feedback on your map ill dl tonight
Its very hard to get a feel of the layout from your screenshots. It seems like a close quarters map from what I can see, and if thats the case I'm not sure how useful the sniper rifle will be. Overall the map looks good, the interlocking looks neat, and the layout looks very original.
Thank you. I agree that you cannot get THAT much of a feel of the map by the pictures, but that is for a reason. It's supposed to make you download so you can actually see the map. Did it work? The sniper rifle is useful in the sense that there is higher ground on the map. If you bring it down to the lower levels however, it is not always effective. Also, it wont dominate the map because their is very little ammo and that the high ground only has clear shots at 2 points in the map. Besides, If you dont want to use it, nobodies forcing you. Thanks again for the constructive critisicm.
that idea didn't work out so good for me because i only download well made maps and on your pics can't i see if it's well made
please, try to say something constructive or at least nice. The map IS well made, just very confined. NO picture will do it justice. Even if the pictures aren't amazing you should download anyway to see for yourself. A lot of people have already downloaded and enjoyed it. Who knows, maybe you will too?
Ouch. Be nice, guys. It looks good. And don't worry; one of my maps had the same problem with pics, but it's all cool. Looks good, lots of levels and cover. Que'd up and good to go. And kudos on writing a backstory. Too often people slap together boxes and call it a map. Maps need a basis, an objective, an idea, and yours has one. You get a squirrel! :squirrel_rocking:
Thanks guys! Those are my first squirrels! Oh, and thanks for commenting on my map and such. Anyone else have any feedback or comments to add? Also, If it is not too much trouble, I would greatly appreciate some comments on the B.net forums as well. I really dont want my map too die. Thanks!
thanks! the thread is locked but somehow im still getting downloads! i think im at 500 even right now!
ok i have downloaded the map and looked at it in forge and it seems that a few of the top walls are crooked, this can easily be fixed, but as for weapon placement, i have no idea why you placed a sniper on such a small map and why theBR's in the centre are there, surely you could survive with just one. as for how it was constructed, except for that one crooked wall, it's soliud although i don't like the death pits, but thats me.
Thanks. The sniper there is fun to use on the map, good for workiing noscopeing skills. The Brs in the center are just for extra ammo.
