    Hey all,

I've got a question that I don't think anyone's considered yet concerning the relationship between interlocking and superbouncing. From what I remember of Halo 2 superbounces, they relied on a glitch where if you landed exactly where two pieces of static geometry overlapped, you'd be able to take advantage of it and jump to amazing heights (Ascension was supposedly one of the favorites for doing this). I never got really good at it, nor did I read up on it too much, but the fact of the overlapping geometry stuck out in my mind.

I have yet to see anyone pull off a superbounce in Halo 3, outside of the use of a broken off warthog turret (thank you Mythbusters), and so I'm curious to know how Bungie managed to make the levels bounce-proof. There are two conceivable options in my mind: Bungie fixed the glitch in the physics system to prevent such bounces from being possible; or Bungie has been making their maps with the knowledge of the superbounce in mind, and has been taking great care with the hard surface map geometry to make sure there aren't any opportunities for it to happen.

Now, assuming the second option is the road Bungie took, wouldn't it then make sense that, in interlocking the static objects and causing their hard-surface geometry to overlap, superbouncing could be revived? It's a stretch, I know, and my incomplete knowledge of the mechanics of superbouncing certainly isn't helping any, but I can't help but imagine the possibilities.

    Discuss!

Halo 3 uses a different physics engine then Halo 2 (thats why you can deflect rockets in this game, also why you can super bounce on some movable objects (broken off warthog turrets, and the elephant)). Super bounces are no longer present in Halo, and if they were it would have been long found out by now seeing how there is a lot more texture changes in Halo 3 than Halo 2. The new glitch with texture changes is ghost jumping.

I highly doubt super jumps are possible in H3. As theheat said, Halo 3 has a whole different physics system.

Also, I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say "...they relied on a glitch where if you landed exactly where two pieces of static geometry overlapped, you'd be able to take advantage of it..." I don't think that is the correct definition. To do one of the super jumps on Zanzibar, all you had to do was land on a certain part of the floor in the base. The floor was completely flat, so I think that your definition is wrong. When you crouch under a ledge (to do a super jump), it somehow glitches the system. Overlapping geometry shouldn't be the cause.

You can super bounce/jump on Last Resort between the pillar near the needler and a wall.
