Hey, I am almost done with a map, and I am not familiar with how the spawning system works (specifically start points). Here's my situation: Each game contains only two teams. No matter how many players are on each team, I want one person from each team to always start at "Spot A". So, if there are 2 people on a team someone will always start at "Spot A", and if there is 8 people on a team someone will always spawn at "Spot A". Someone suggested to make 1 starting point and 7 other respawn points for each team so someone would always start at "Point A". Well, this didn't work. Any other ideas? Note: Gametype is Territories. My second problem: When I put no start points in, players don't start at the respawn points (also in Territories). However, all of my respawn points are surrounded by closed walls (basically a small box around each respawn point), could this be the problem? Could this be why situation 1 isn't working as well? Note: respawn points are out of the boundries of Skybox if that matters. I made a thread similar to this, but didn't explain my situation very well, and I found a new problem, so I created a new thread. Thanks for all your help guys!
You have to tell the spawn point who's supposed to spawn there. Place your cursor over the spawn point, press X, set the team to either attackers or defenders (AKA Blue or Red). Doing this on a single starting point will cause the other players to spawn on nearby spawn points next to their teammates. Use spawn area markers to designate where you want teams to respawn by adjusting the radius of the marker to surround the desired spawn points and also setting the spawn area marker to either attackers or defenders.
You put the starting point where you want the one person to spawn and you put respawn points where you want the rest of the team to spawn. Make sure that the starting point is closer to those spawns than the other teams starting point. Diagram: O - starting point (this is spot a) oooooooo - respawn points (where everyone else will respawn)
I did this all already, and it still never works and spawns players in places where there aren't even respawns/starting points . Any other ideas? I am truly stumped.
Try using up to 8 starting spawn points on Spawn Area 1 and then up to 8 on Spawn Area 2. Either set them to attackers (blue) or defenders (red) or use spawn areas to do that (generally done in objective games, I wouldn't recommend it for slayer). That's how MLG does it when they make maps. Also, you can put 1 starting spawn point at the Spawn Area 1 and then surround it with a bunch of other spawn points set by the spawn area (again, objective games for spawn area, otherwise just try it manually for each point). Yes, you can place them outside of the sky box's boundaries, and yes, they'll work if surrounded, just make sure the entire spawn point is not being touched by another object (I've seen spawn points floated ever so slightly before, I'm not sure what the purpose of that is, but that would be my guess).
If I get you right, you want one guy to spawn at a certain spot, while the rest of the team spawns elsewhere. All you need is two starting points and 6 respawn points decently close to each other. Players will spawn on starting points, then spawn in respawn points close to starting points, from what I've found. So put one where you want the guy to spawn, then one near some respawn points...when you have over 2 people on the team, they should start on those. The closeness is important, and they also might need to be close to each other. Experiment a little.
Thanks for the tips guys! The problem with the starting points not working was that is was touching/too close to objects, so that was an easy fix. Then the other problem was solved using another starting point next to the respawn points. I didn't even think of that! Thanks again you guys!
