Ok, im building an MLG map on sandbox. Its being built in the crypt (bottom level) and it is going to resemble onslaught/amplified kinda map. But since its WAY bigger than foundry, i decided to put a sniper on one side of the map. But i wanna put somthing else on the other side of the map. But im stuck between putting rockets or OS on it. So which should be put in? (imagine onslaught/amplified in sandbox's crypt) ROCKETS or CUSTOM?
I always saw MLG maps as being symmetrical. I don't know though.. if I were you, I would just stick sniper rifles on both sides. Not giving one team an advantage over the other. What do you mean by Custom? I don't get it.. Edit: I get it now! You should have just said "Custom Power Up" in the poll, because a Custom Power Up really isn't anything like the Overshield. I would have to say stick a Custom Power Up on that side of the map, rockets don't seem like they go with MLG.
hey dude i also saw the post of your almost done map. based on what i saw i think OS because it develops more strategy considering the openness of the map
I'l just completely redefine your opinion, k? If you're making a 2 base map and the bases face towards each other than put 2 snipers. On a larger map the snipers will become more support and less supportive (look at the difference in kills Snipedown gets on Pit (large) vs. Guardian (small). With that aside you now have 2 open spaces for power weapons. So custom and rockets, or just one or the other, or one and mauler, whatever you feel will play best on your map. A few notes to help you decide; -Rockets don't work too well in extremely open maps with a lot of base to base shooting (Guardian, no rockets), but do work in maps that have enough room to not hurt your self when shooting them and also to get benefits from splash damage (Pit, Construct, have rockets) -Custom works in any maps that require full team pushes to enter into the enemy's side. Meaning lines of site may be blocked between the two bases however it will not work on corridor based maps because it is too much of an advantage for the overshielded player to only have to deal with 1v1 fights. -Sniper works on maps that focus heavily on lines of sight. Any hugely open map with little cover will cause the sniper to have a lot of time to line up a shot, which is not good. Also very corridor like maps will not be good for snipers. -Mauler works good on any map that mixes openness and corridors. All open maps will not see a mauler being used, all corridor maps will mean a mauler will become overpowered. Finding a balance with this one is not hard.
Wait, when you say sides, do you mean A/B towers or the bases? If it's the towers, stick the sniper on top of one of them, and stick a CPU in the tunnel under the other. Get rid of the mauler under bottom mid. If it's bases, then keep the symmetry and go dual snipers. That's just what I would do. CPU would be a better counter to the sniper I think. They balance each other out. Dual snipers is obvious.
