Boarding Action Created by oriol003 & Sergeant CJ www.Gruntsrus.com This map plays a lot like Boarding Action, mainly because it share these key elements: 1) Narrow walkways 2) You are open to the other side to attack with little cover 3) Required use of Teleporters 4) The fall to your death if you didn't watch your step. The level is played out on the long beams (three on each side) outside the level towards the waterfall with a middle "transfer" room to go between each side. The bottom level on both sides has a "home base" which is an outcropping of boxes, protected with a turret and a barrier. The teleporter transfer you up one level on your side till you reach the top (the third level), then that teleporter on top takes you to the transfer room which has a teleporter that sends you to the bottom of the other side. The weapon and power-ups have been selected to best balanced for game play. There are shotguns and BR's at home base, with an odd selection of weapons as you climb up the levels. A Bubble Shield and Power Drainer are also on the second and third levels. The main power weapons are a sniper rifle on the third level and a rocket launcher in the transfer room, contently located next to an Overshield. Best if played with 2 to 14 people, in games of Slayer, CTF, and Oddball. This map does not support any other game types. Download Boarding Action
Sorry to say... I was not impressed. I was planning on doing something like this, but got lazy. It is way to messy... The objects seem to just be thrown together. ALOT of cleaning up would make this map a keeper though. I will give him credit for being one of the first few people to remake Boarding action...
I'd agree with you, AZN. The objects/weapons are just kind of thrown around, but that doesn't make it a bad map. Getting a good game of CTF going with a good number of people is amazing. My first was with a mix of HBO, Grunts R Us, and UNSCDF people. It was awesome. I remade it with Halo 1 weapons and spiffed up the placement a bit. I could upload it if anyone wants to see it. P.S. How's that remake of Narrows coming?
Man, you got my hopes up. Boarding Action was my favorite Halo: CE map, and no one has yet to make a quality remake Nice idea trying to use the walkway things, but they look too narrow, and on Boarding Action you could only fall if you actually were right on the edge walking. This one looks like a few stray steps could kill you. Plus there was way more cover than is pictured, and no "transfer room". I'm making a direct port of it as soon as I get my 360 in from repairs. ~Jakester1024
I have to say I hate you, and love you. I had a map that was built outside of the barrier on construct for about 5 days now. atleast this isn't a copy.
I was just replying to xxxmasterofuxxx I didn't want to quote his giant box and edit the HTML .... my bad ...
It would have been helpful if it was more transparent were teleporters lead. Maybe you could try this again on Foundry so that you can use your own dimensions.
Boarding Action looks great, reminds me of team rockets and team snipers in Halo. Good times, Good Times
yeah, the map looks like it will bring original halo gamers back to their roots as they shot at each other and feared they would not even make the home stretch with the flag because there was no where to sit and sip tea as the action passed by. ahhhh good times good times.... :squirrel_jaffa:
the first time i played it, i wasn't blown away. then, my friend came over, and we had unlimited ammo, grenade regeneration, and random weapons. that was fun. we were craving that for several hours after playing it, so we playe it again. i had about 5 more people over, we played it. my team rocked. it was extremely fun. people are always getting sniped, lasered, shotguned, and beat down. GREAT TIMES. then we figured how to escape your grav lifts in the transfer room. throw a nade and RUN! if you do it right, your out.
Opinion seconded. as stated this was one of the favorites of oldschool halo gamers. I wouldnt have named it the same as the original if it wasn't intended to be an exact replica.
