Then isn't it possible that there are more stories in the Bible like that? I'm not saying that all of the stories aren't true but if Noah's ark is made up, then maybe there are more. Most of the stories in the Bible have little or no evidence to back them up, just like Noah's ark.

And El diablo you said that maybe God had planned on people disobeying him so he made a place for those people to go. Well, that place is hell, and its described as being agony for the rest of time. So basically, just because someone doesn't believe he exists, he is willing to make that person endure hundreds of lifetimes worth of pain. Something about that just does not seem right to me, so I'll ask you the same question I've been asking everyone in this thread. I know that you've said things in response to the question, but I would just like a direct answer from you based on your beliefs. Why would he want to make people suffer for millions of years just because during the 70 years they were alive they didn't worship him?

    What an amazing rebuttal!

Is is possible that the whole thing is made up? It is very possible. In fact, it seem to be the best conclusion.

Why do most of thing happen in that book, never have happened again? How many prophets are there? Why are there no new ones that have the same effect? Has God forgotten about us, or is it that those things never happened.

If you are a faithful Christian, you look at the Bible as a historical book. Go get any History book taught at a school. Why is is that the things that happened in the history book all make sense while the Bible does not.

Half ass reply? I'm tired of people making generalizations. Just stop, or seriously, don't even post. I'm absolutely sick and tired of atheists making generalizations of Christians. The only reason I didn't reply to his full post is because he misunderstood me in the first place, and then made a wall of text about it. I can't debate with a misinterpretation.

The "Yes I have" was towards the fact that I have tried other religions/sects etc. I was actually an atheist before I was a theist, of any sort. And everyone is a atheist before a theist, though they may not know it/support it. Its just inborn. Can't make decisions for yourself till your old enough, am I right? The reason I said "who are you to judge" is because he made the fair assumption that if I was born into a family of Christians I would be as well. Which could be true, I mean, look at lefty, he said his relatives were "devout Christians" and he's not.

You absolutely cannot compare religion to dental equipment or technology. Technology will progress and become better (for the most part. have you heard of the dark ages?) Nothing new is learned in Christianity. There's nothing new under the sun in a religion. God doesn't change Christianity because He can. Imagine this. You are a kid, and you have legos. But these legos are the special edition star wars, which doesn't sell anymore. You love these legos, and after 5 years, you still love them. But now they demand you send them in and get your money back because they were defective, etc. However there is nothing wrong with your legos, what you already had works fine. There's no problem with your legos. How would you feel? (please don't rant on this example, its just a paraphrase) Or try this. You have a great technique for cutting grass. (I hope you can tell i'm making these up on the spot) However, the government says the new technique for cutting grass must be put into place because it is scientifically proven to be better. However, there is not much a difference whether which one you choose, and you don't like the newer technique. Most would object. I'm sure you would, since I can tell you believe strongly in your theories.

And no, of course its not right to condemn people to hell, and I see what you're getting at here. But over, and over, and over again, I have repeatedly said GOD DOES NOT CONDEMN PEOPLE TO HELL. Once you get this through your thick skulls I hope you people can finally use a different argument.

Ok for the first part I don't really understand what you're trying to say. Could you add more to that?

And for the second part, God created Hell. If there was no hell then no one would go to it. So by making Hell, God is condemning people to it. And I think people have been using many different arguements...to me it just seems like this is the most important.

if god doesnt exist, how do people live when science sais they should be dead a long time ago just to see a specific person again or see do what they wanted to do and then die after that. Explain that science and aethists.

First of all, if you make your posts intelligible then you're just making yourself look like a fool. I had to spend a couple minutes just trying to figure out what you were trying to say. Second, under extreme stress, the body can heal itself. Science actually has explained that. Many times. Maybe try saying something intelligent next time.

God created hell for satan. God told us NOT to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Yet we did, and look at what happened. He doesn't condemn us, its our own fault, yet we can get saved again. Now let me honestly ask this. Are almost no atheists aware of that fact or are they just ignorant?

Interpretation: If God doesn't exist, how do people live after science says they should have been dead a long time ago (Example: Jimmy, you die in 2 months. Then Jimmy survives, and lives a happy life) just so they can see somebody again or do what they had always wanted to do in their life then die, once their goal for life is complete. I would like science and atheists to explain that.

If he's omnipotent, he would have known that we were going to do that. And what did you not understand from my earlier post? HE MADE HELL, KNOWING THAT PEOPLE WOULDN'T BELIEVE IN HIM. He condemned people to it. Are you saying that he only has selective powers? He's god, he knows everything.

Oh and by the way I'm not an athiest. Just because I don't believe in the Bible's interpretation of God doesn't mean I'm an athiest.

Am I the only one who notices that every story in the Bible has some moral to it, like the lesson in a fairy tale?

Omnipotent doesn't necessarily mean all knowing. And by delivering this argument you make me have to question what God's plan is. To put it simply: I don't know.

And I simply assumed you were atheist. Thank you for the clarification.

You bring up a very good point. Many of the parables that Jesus told are now referred to by different things. For example "You reap what you sow" is now karma. "Do unto others as you would have be done unto yourself" is now 'the golden rule.' See where i'm going with this?

This picture brings up some points that have already been discussed, and probably misquotes multiple times, but it still brings up some pretty good points against traditional Christianity.

No one can prove 100% that God exists. there are good signs though. It depends on our faith. We can choose to believe and follow Him. God is leaving the choice up to us. I believe in God.

You know zergling, I just read a lot of that, and a lot of it is incorrect, and I could give reasons why, but the article is far too long. All I will say is that a human perception of God is often misconceived, and I also noticed that people misinterpret the Bible very oftenly. The bible is open for all types of interpretation, it is not meant to be literal
(in some instances), and it wasn't written to debate atheists. Even the bible states that debates with ignorant people will go nowhere. Not that you're ignorant, but its quite apparent most of you aren't open for a change.

While you not believe that the bible is literal, many people do. That chart may not pertain to your beliefs, but it certainly does to the beliefs of many others. What it is trying to do is show that that can't pick and choose what stories they believe- many people will say that they believe the creation story, adam and eve, etc., so the chart points to these people (people who take the bible literally) that in doing so, they are also supporting many bad things.

Where in the bible does it mention that we are supposed to stone children in gays? Sins are not punishable for death. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Meaning we do not have to pay for our actions.

I checked out a few of the quotes; Romans 1:26-32 indeed does say that Gays should be put to death. It isn't misquoted at all-

    1:26
    - For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
    1:27
    - And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    1:28
    - And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
    1:29
    - Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
    1:30
    - Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
    1:31
    - Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
    1:32
    - Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
