LINKS: The Map: The Field 2.0 The Gametype: Brane Ball CTF Brane Ball is an action packed sports game designed with Grifball and Spartan Soccer in mind. Mostly Soccer though. Anyway, each team starts outside of the field. A waypoint will tell them which side to take. A judge, optional but recommended, will direct the teams when to begin playing. This judge will also enforce the rules of the game, which I will explain later. Using your hammers and WITHOUT crossing into enemy territory too far, hit the ball into the goal. The grav lifts at each goal will either help you score or hinder your block. When the opponent scores, they will have a moment to celebrate when a member of the other team goes through the teleporter and captures the flag. THis means that one goal was made against them. Afterwards, they will fish the ball from the goal cage, run it up to the line, and smack it. Then play resumes as normal. There are four rounds, each ending when a team hits 3 points. Remember that it is possible to tie as long as you keep the game 3-2 for three rounds. Score managament is key in this game. Here is a flow chart of the game to simplify it: Teams spawn. -> Judge follows his team to the waypoint. DO NOT CAPTURE THE FLAG. -> Teams wait behind the grav lifts until the judge begins the game -> teams fight to score, without crossing the line -> When the OTHER team scores, you use the teleporter in your goal to capture the flag. They have gained a point. -> Run the ball to the middle and SMACK it. Special Rules: DO NOT leave the grav lift area until the judge gives the signal. DO NOT cross the middle line INTENTIONALLY unless it is for celebration of a goal. You must return before the ball is hit in that case. When a goal is scored on YOU, capture the flag and push the ball to the middle. THE OTHER TEAM MAY NOT HIT IT UNTIL IT CROSSES THE LINE OR UNTIL YOU HIT IT! If the ball somehow manages to go out of bounds, the team that hit it out must stay to the side and give the other team a free shot. KILLING IS FORBIDDEN. KILLING RESULTS IN A LOSS OF TWO POINTS AND SUSPENSION OF PLAYER. You can only assassinate, so it isn't hard to follow this one. Any penalty committed results in a free shot for the other team. SCREENSHOTS, HO! This is the goal area. Notice the grav lifts. These make the game difficult or easy depending on whether or not you shot the ball. He shoots... He scores! Use the teleporter in the picture to head up top and rack up a point for the scoring team. After you hit the teleporter, grab and score the flag (the return point is literally right there) then slip back into the arena for your team's return.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. This is a brilliant idea, but honor rule games never fly all that well. They tend to crash and burn.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Honor rules game don't work out too well. Though, I can't think of any other way you could do it. Bungie really didn't think out this whole soccer game thing.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Also, you should include a helicopter view style screenshot, so people get an idea of what it is and get a general feel for the court before they download.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Well, there is a little barrier to stop the honor rule from dying. In order to score points, your OPPONENTS must capture the flag. There score is your points count. Other than that though, you're right. But if you play with a bunch of honorable people, like clan members or fellow Forge Hubbers, this works out great. If you can get a group of people you trust that is about seven people big, then I highly recommend this. @ Poztar: The court has a ceiling to prevent people and balls from flying out.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Yeah, with enough friends, it could be brilliant. But for future reference, don't spend hours on honor-rule based maps.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. I know it could be brilliant. I really only spent hours on it because I knew I would probably only play it with my friends. I just wanted to get an opinion of it.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Oh a ceiling? Alright cool, I didn't think of that. And yeah, a bunch of forge-hubbers could make this a great game if you get them all together. Overall, great idea and great map, just limited player audience.
Re: Brane Ball: A Sports Game Like No Other. Tomorrow, I'll try to organize a game with some hubbers. I'll be ref since I know the rules the best. I was going to post a film of it, but my recent films list was deleted so it isn't there anymore.
