Ok I know that I've only been here for a month, but something ridiculous happened the other day and I just wanted to ask some questions about it. A person that was new on the site tried to post his first map, but he didn't embed the screenshots right, and he forgot the download link. I didn't know he had forgotten all of this, so I clicked on the map to check it out. It had THREE PAGES of comments about how he didn't have the map posted right. I think only 2 comments actually tried to help him. Seriously? Most of the maps I see on the front page get maybe 7 or 8 comments, but this map had I think 24 and nobody had even seen the map. That doesn't seem right to me, and its happening more and more often. I just don't understand it. I think that if you are going to make a comment telling the person he/she doesn't have his pictures embedded, and you post it and you see somebody else has already posted before you, then delete your post! Once again, I know I'm new here, but I've been looking at the maps on this site since probably November of last year.

Now I have a question for the mods. Would it be possible to have a guide pop up or something for the first time a person posts their map? And could you possibly change the layout of the posts so that the person has to meet the requirements before they can actually post? Maybe have an area of the post that's reserved for screenshots, and if the poster doesn't have at least three screenshots or whatever the rule is, the system won't let them post. I don't really know very much about computers so I don't know how hard it would be to do that or if it would even be possible, but those are just my ideas. Oh and by the way I'm not trying to bash the site in any way. I think you guys do a great job of keeping it up and running. I'm just making some suggestions to prevent this spamming of incomplete posts or whatever it is.

    It's ridiculous, isn't it?
I'm glad you're mature enough to realise the situation with map posting in these times and to point it out. It's been a problem for a while, which is a shame, but if people don't read the rules - what can you do? The really good map help and review days seem to be over...

If only the Review Hub got up and running, it may help lol ;D

As for the notice, I'm sure the staff have gone over the subject time and time again, but have yet found a practical solution. The rules have been made stricter to accomodate for the spamming but there isn't a answer yet.

It's good of you to point this out though. I'm glad someone has noticed the deteriorating state of map comments these days.

It's nice to see that some people here have common sense.
You only need one person to give a tutorial on how to post a screenshot properly, and the mods REALLY need to crack down on that.
I understand if two people post at nearly the same time, and the comments haven't shown yet, but three pages is way to much

Perhaps there should be a separate infraction for it like 3 points, non-decaying, or whatever the hell it is. And BTW i try to post (in the text box) at least three lines of stuff. If I can't do that then I don't post. *pause* Unless it's a good one liner.

Yes I know I wish mods would give them infractions for it. I try to some up the whole thing when I tell people there posts aren't up to standards by linking them the rules, how to post pictures, what they did wrong, etc. I also usually put, "All posts regarding his post not being up to standards is spam."

Yes yes yes. It seriously bugs the heck outta me when people don't know the line between helping and not helping. It would be nice if maps weren't judged by stupid things like small bumps in a map. When I feel to lazy to make a good post, I just don't post at all.

Report one of the posts, and we'll usually check the whole thread and deal with the spam.

Why is it that we notice this now, when back then it was always a problem from the beginning.

    Welcome to Forgehub.

Your correct on that, this has been a problem for a very long time. Nothing has happened to change this at all.

It's about people wanting to say their views. They don't care about anything else. Just like the original person "forgets" to read the Rules section. They don't seem to care to read rules or anything before they post. If they don't do these things then it's really their fault, but they need to learn. It probably all comes down to the community and how well we "protect" the forums with any ideas that we have in mind.

It's just... really complicated at this point.
