MIDGUARD BY: A Punker GAMETYPES: Team Slayer, Slayer, MLG Slayer, Swat This map was made out of pure nostalgia. The thought of it came from Midship with the way it has stairs and ramps that wrap the map itself. I also made bridges at the top that would allow for the jump feel like it had on Midship at the top only there is an overshield instead of sword. The rest I built for a new feel. For example the pit area at the bottom has barriers and a crate that are movable with a Trip Mine and Grav Lift to make that area turn in to a mess and create a sort of new layout on the bottom. Also the topside with the two bridges have an exposure at the back them by the ramps that make people below vulnerable. Due to the small nature of this map it is recommended gametypes that have no radar. I'm not giving a full review, but I have a few easy-to-fix suggestions. The shotgun: The shotguns are much too overpowered. There are a few ways to fix this. The best thing to do is replace them with Maulers. Or you could make them spawn with less ammo and/or increase the spawn time. The equipment: For a small map like this, keep the equipment to a minimum. Keep one or two pieces of equipment, and delete all the rest. Weapon Balance: Even out the weapons. Make the weapon spawn location symmetrical to keep the game fair. Plasma grenades: Try increasing the spawn to 20 seconds. I think it will improve gameplay. Middle: Using the extra budget from deleting some equipment, put weapon holders on top of the barriers so they don't fall over so easily. If you find the budget, put them on ALL of the barriers, and maybe put a receiver node on the crate. Those are just a few things you could improve on. I think it will make the map much better. The layout looks pretty good though, and it's smooth, so good job on it.
wow, i was gonna make a map called midguard back when foundry first came out. never thought of good designs or accualy did anything. looks good though. 4/5
The map overall looks really great, but I believe that for a map this size your choice of weapons and powerups are really unnecessary and can cause a match to go terribly wrong. Im not saying that you shouldn't do that, but its kind of like playing rockets on Assembly. @_@. It looks like this map is very fast paste so I do recommend less power-ups since it could turn into a sausage fest. The Aesthetics are really nice and your angles are smooth. You have really nice floors and catwalks. 4/5
