So my stupid brothers and my stupid neighbor that i dont like were playing halo 3 for a couple hours and they complained about smelling burnt rubber or something like it from the 360. I got really pissed and told them to GTFO. Anyways, is it normal for that 'burning smell' to happen?

Unplug it and put it in an area where it gets lots of air. It probably was in an enclosed spot where it warmed up too much.

I think that only happens if your Xbox gets old and you play it a whole lot. When did you get it?

perhaps hes using the nyko intercooler? when i was using it it smelled burning too, but luckily i read about it causing RRoD and voiding warranty early enough to get rid of it.

It could be dust that has settled on the inside of the unit burning or being heated by the system... hopefully that's the case, but your system could be on its last leg.

I got it for Christmas, and I heard it was one of the 'newer' versions. I keep it on a glass table in front of my TV in my room so it's well ventilated and spaced out. I open all the windows and point a fan at it. My fan is dusty though, could be the fan. I'm too afraid to play it so I can't freaking forge.

I noticed a slight wavy pattern on the side of my halo 3 disc, and I thought it was slightly melted or something. I'm scared.

Chill. Its just Xbox lol... But it just probably needs to cool off. Mine smells like burnt dust after a few hours of play but thats probably because I never play mine. I have never had mine smelt like rubber though. Was any rubber actually touching it that could of melted?

I don't think it's your Xbox 360, but rather what your Xbox was on, beside, or close by. The 360 will burn objects if it has the right conditions.

Anyhow, you shouldn't yell at your relatives. Even if it costs your Xbox.

My Xbox is messed up as well. When I turn it off it makes a dripping noise for like the next 45 minutes. Just constant dripping. Also when it turns off it makes a really loud noise as the disc slows down which scares me.

Anyways, I hope your xbox will be okay!

When this burning smell occurs, does the dashboard freeze up/not respond? If it does, it's overheating. Open a window and turn it off for a bit.
