Hello everyone, Below is a Halo 3 Map Making Guide, I havent seen any of these so i thought ide give what i had.

Before I start, I want to state I am not a very good Map Maker, I study maps and there details even to the smallest well or poorly placed fusion coil. These tips will be for Making maps. Although I will add a few tips on how to add details to an existing map

    Asymetrical Maps

Asymetrical Maps are the most popular kind of map for team gametypes, simply because one team spawn on one side and the other team on the other side. Here are some good things to do on these kinds of maps.

    - Put some defferences between the 2 sides, not to many though, it gives the map character.

    - Balance cover spaces and weapon placing, this adds a good tactical feel to the map.

    - Sniper positions, add them but do not put them in the same place on both sides. it also add to the tactical feel and combat of the map.

    - Weapons, Balance the weapons, not too many heavy weapons or snipers, if you add to many of those, it ruins the maps combat.

Those are some tips on how to make a good Asymetrical map. Next Infection maps.

    Infection Maps

Infection is a very popular gametype, but the expiericnce could be ruind if you dont have a decent map, here are some good tips on how to make an infection map

    - Do NOT make the map Asymetrical, this will make it seem like a team game.

    - Usually people make maps with bases, or places with alot of hiding places, levels, and obstacles, so that the infected cant get the humans/elites, to easily, this is a good thing to do.

    - Add good weapon into the mix, since the infected usually cannot pick weapons up, but are compensated with another feat, this makes the infected strong, so the living need good defence.

    - Do not add to many vehicles, then its just a game of chase and eventually the humans will all die.

    - Ship maps are great for infection, but that will be brought up later.

Those are some good tips for making and infection maps.

    Close Quartars Combat Maps

Close Comabt maps are always fun for some run and gun games and heres tips on how to make them.

    - Make the map somewhat Asymetrical so that its not too repetitive but still good for teams.

    - Make alot of tight corners and hallways, and doorways, this adds suspence and and its makes for a great map for some reason.

    - Balance weapons, make weapons around the map, to balance the combat.

    - do NOT add to many grenades, this makes it just a grenade spamming map.

Thats how to make a good Close Combat Map. next up BattleShip maps.

    Skybase Maps

Skybase maps are becoming increasingly popular and heres some tips on how to make them.

    - Make them accsesable by mancannon, this adds a real feel to the map.

    - Make the base itself asymetrical this adds a Map feel to the base.

    - Create the bases on maps with alot of airspace such as Standoff, or Avalance.

    - Make a fast way to access the base such as vehicles.

Thats how to make a good airbase map. Next up, BattleShip Maps.

    BattleShip Maps

BattleShip maps are very increasingly popular, they are great for infection and slayer gametypes, and are also cool to have for clans and such, heres some tips on how to make a good BattleShip map

    - Dont make it Asymetrical, this takes away from the whole Ship idea.

    - If you are making a Unsc Ship make UNSC weapons and a mac cannon on the ship,

    - Add large weapons, such as adding an immovable tank or gauss warthog, by putting immovable objects at the tires.

    - If you are making a Covenant Ship, make it Aerodynamic looking and have covie weapons.

Thats how to make a good BattleShip map. Next up Ship Battle Maps ( not the same )

    Ship Battle Maps

Ship Battle maps are going to be increasingly popular upon the realease of the map Sandbox (aka : Forgers Heaven) With the new Skybubble Feature your limit is no longer the sky. ship Battle maps are maps that there are 2 ships, and they are supposed to be fighting eachother. Here are some tips on how to make a good Ship Battle Map.

    - Do NOT make both ships even similar, this would be confusing and repetitive.

    - Because it will most likely be Covenant vs. UNSC, Make unsc weapons on one and covie weapons on the other

    - Create Cannons and Large weapons by using the Immobile Vehicle trick, to do that, put things that stop the movement of the vehicle. For UNSC you can use Tanks and gauss warthaugs, for Covenant you can use wraiths and such.

    - Integrate a bording party bridge for maybe 25 seconds every 3 minutes using a timer, or something like that, but a good idea is to put fusion coils or something on the brige so that people going across are always in danger.

    - Air vehicles would also make your expierince even better, but remember to but anti-vehicle weapons.

Those are good tips on how to make a Ship Battle map. Next up, Screenshot maps.

    Screenshot Maps

Screenshot maps are not commonly used but i will give a brief description on them. If you look in my file share all of the pictures are using a Screenshot map on Avalance. You can access some cool arieal features and lanscapes using these maps. What you can do, is make some boxes in a high up place so that you can get a good angle. Then all you do is get a cool looking gun and some effects and your good to go.

Thats how to make a Screenshot map.

Thank you all for reading, I hope this helps you make awesome maps, If you have any imput or tips at all please post them, my ideas can always be immproved,

The things you added in this post are very novice and hard to understand. For example:

I'm not sure you know exactly what you're talking about. An asymetrical map is a map with a layout where the sides aren't the same. They don't necessarily spawn at the two sides. Last Resort for example, in Team Slayer, each team spawns on opposite sides of the middle, not one on the beach, one in the base like Objective games. Keep that in mind when editing the guide.

What do you mean by tactical feel?

You want the map to be symmetrical?

Specify the map type. Some map makers focus on gameplay to be like that.

For some reason? Don't includ something if you don't know why it happens.

Also, I'm not gonna talk about the other things, cause I don't know what a battleship map is, so, uh, yah, try to improve the OP please.

I think you have asymmetrical and symmetrical maps confused asymmetrical= not the same
symmetrical= same on both sides like a line of symmetry hence the symmetrical

These guides are confusing and don't make much sense i have seen better and unless you make it way better then i don't think this is a very high quality guide.
