In recent weeks watching the voting threads, I feel the urge to vote. So my question is whether there's something necessarily wrong with me voting in SotW? I realise that with me running it, my vote could influence others to vote in the same direction. To combat that, if I voted as I locked it, would there be something wrong with that? I'm asking you G&A'ers; the ones who often compete or vote in SotW, what your opinions on this topic are? Be honest.
I think it's perfectly fine for you to vote in the SotW, as you said it would most likely be best for you to vote just before locking it so that people don't 'follow the leader' so to speak.
There is nothing wrong in voting for me. Actually, I disagree with you voting. You're a judge. When you want to vote, make sure you're not the one hosting.
Technically, anyone who votes could be called a judge. But why is it wrong for the host to vote? And if it's done so with complete unbias and without influencing anyone else, what harm is caused?
Are the football announcers allowed to refferee? Are the dog show hosts allowed to judge? Nope. I just like it this way because it makes it more official.
Fair enough but it's hard to really compare those examples. They're much more high calibre and prestige then a casual online graphics contest. I totally see where you're coming from though and I don't wish to compromise any integrity that this contest holds, but for what it is, it's not that big of a deal.
I won't complain if you do, I just would have liked it that way. I mean, I don't even think the people who entered should vote either. So in truth, I prefer you don't, but I won't complain if you do.
I think some people will agree with me on this, some may not, but the fact that entrants are allowed to vote really helps create that friendly, casual atmosphere. Additionally, if entrants weren't allowed to vote then voting threads would be very bare. Truth is, G&A is very much a separate entity from the bulk of what makes up Forge Hub. Either way, I'll be voting this week. If it turns out that more people than I thought don't like this, then I'll reconsider. Thanks for the input, Frag.
Exactly why I often don't vote recently, and I just realized I forgot to enter my sotw >_>;; I agree with you voting last Linu, just make sure you don't influence and have people ***** about it.
if the people who didnt enter were the only ones who voted, we would often get unprofessional, uneducated reasons for why they chose a signature. also, for linu, there is nothing wrong with you entering. in fact, it is even more right in Frag's view because you didnt enter a signature. Screw the classic rules of "the host can't judge". this is the internet, anyways, we could used more educated judges anyways, and you are one. Please judge, i say.
I run the one over at viral, and I just make sure I vote near the end of the voting time. Although I doubt anyone would vote the way I did just cause I did...
Personally it doesn't matter to me. You could vote, people who make their sigs can vote, so it shouldn't matter. Although I do agree with others about posting your vote last before you lock the thread, that way your vote doesn't persuade others into following you.
I'm not a G&A'er, bu I occasionally lurk in the section. Though, I'm all for it, as long as you vote last. Not necessarily doing so because it might cause temptation, but it might have the opposite effect. What if I see a signature I have in mind for voting, but you vote ahead of me for the exact one. Now, if I do so I might feel cautious, for people would then think I'm trying to appeal to the Modertaor and such. Excellent point, but what is there to judge in a Majority Vote? Besides rule abiding, and such, Linu (Or Batman) doesn't exactly choose the SOTW, we do.
Voting is fine. You are entitled to your opinion as others are. Voting as you lock is a good idea as well. It will prevent any potential difficulties.
Well.. You own it. And plus there doesn't have to be one if you decide not to make one. I wouldn't care if you voted. Its not like you have a biased opinion on them.
That's like saying the Banker in Monopoly can't play. Of course you can play. Just do it responsibly. By that I mean vote at the end...
