Angry Surprised Face When I first got Halo 3 I was mad because you couldn't start with the Plasma Rifle which made me angry because it was my favorite weapon. I understand you can only start with the weapons on all maps (I think that's the reason) but you can get it in random and it's awesome. Anyone else mad or can explain why I don't get awesome Elite Weapon. BTW I've had Halo 3 since it came out, I only now made a thread about it.
Plasma Rifles are a bit overpowered for you to start out with them, don't you think? Why isn't there a Elite equal to the Assault Rifle? That would be so cool!
I thought that was the elite equal to the assault rifle. The assault rifle is good all around. But the plasma rifle is only good if paired up with an SMG or Spiker, or you shoot someone and then melee them. That's my strategy.
I do agree, but if people are only doing it for custom games then why does that matter? All the power weapons are selectable as a starting weapon, but not the Plasma Rifle, so I doubt it's purely because of the power.
Oh, that's what you meant! I thought you meant in matchmaking when playing as an elite! Yeah, why isn't there a plasma rifle? That's strange, although it does appear in random. Weird thing is, in Halo 2 I used to recall the red plasma rifle appearing in random to. That was awesome! I loved that red plasma rifle to death..
there is, its called the plasma rifle, they are both just like AR's but the plasma rifle is a little stronger, so then again u are still right
I also found strange is when i tried to have a beam rifle start it won't let me. No beam rifle is labeled as a starting weapon. What is with alien weapons? Did Bungie just make a mistake or something?
Well it depends how you look at it and what the scenario is. The plasma rifle drains shields quicker, but takes longer to drain the "health". It is vice-versa for the Assault Rifle. So this means if it was Plasma VS Assault, no melees, they would be equal. But add the melees in, the plasma would most likely win. They are meant to be counterparts, but if they are equal, why would anyone want to use it. All the weapons are different in Halo 3, but some are alike. For example, beam rifle and sniper rifle, carbine and BR. It is just another aspect of the game. But why Bungie would not give us, the players, and option to put the covenant/brute weapons as a starting weapon is truely a mystery.
The plasma rifle is a little less effective due to the fact that you need to lead your shots more at a certain distance. It also does take a little longer to kill. Try putting two friends right next to eachother and shoot them with the different guns form the same distance and you'll see what I mean.
i remember in halo 2....dual weilding plasmas and kicking ass on ivory tower in 1v1....good times, goood times.... i too am a fan of elite weapons. in halo 2 i prefered the carbine, but it just seems awkward in halo 3, so i stick to BR. i dont really like smgs unless im dual weilding, and if i can get a plasma rifle i always do. trust me, plasma rifle +BR is better than noob combo. especially with the high firing rate, its almost immediate. i wish that you could start with beam rifles and plasma rifles at start. its just too bad they made beam rifles 10 energy a shot. in halo 2 it was like 4-6. too bad.
I would call the needler the AR. While we are at it why no sentinal beam for starts? That would be awesome for Ghost Busters
I wish you could make plasma rifle starts too, and better grenade options for that matter. I wanted to make plasma wars to have some epic fun in custom games, but it turns out I'd have to forge everything. It makes little to no sense.
I think the map you select should determine the weapons you can start with. but there is a glitch to get the Elite to only wield a Plasma Rifle. It's good for screenies, but useless otherwise.
The projectile, or 'plasma' spread of the weapon is to dilated in my opinion. Of course, close combat it will definitely overpower your opponents default weapon, but for stationary kills, I dislike it. Though as people in this thread have directed, it is the counterpart to the Assault Rifle. It's not the same mechanics, but has the same fundamentals. As someone else mentioned, the Brute Plasma Rifle (Red Plasma Rifle) was ****ing sexy. But for some reasons, Bungie did not include that certain Brute Weapon, while the included a Gravity Hammer. Even while it's the same gun, different skin, it was somewhat un-ordinary and disctinct, just something I liked. As for the fact you don't start with the Plasma Rifle, Halo 3 is centered around Human weapons. Not that diverse weapons are included, but you play solely as the Master Chief the entire game, unlike Halo 2 where you would co-exist. It's something we can't change, besides being in Custom Games. Though, I hope Bungie will diverse the gametypes being played in Matchmaking int he future, to possible create more variations of skill and entertainement, plus not letting their game become history.
IMO its a great team weapon. You have a guy with the pr, and another with br, or ar, and you can finish guys in a matter of seconds. Works pretty good on TD
