Prime Minister Gordon Brown is leading tributes to reality TV star Jade Goody who has died of cancer at 27, praising her as a "courageous woman".

Goody died at home with her family in Upshire, Essex, in the early hours of Sunday after a high-profile battle with cervical cancer.
Floral tributes at the mother-of-two's house have been steadily mounting since news of her death broke.
The prime minister said he was "deeply saddened" by the news.
"The whole country has admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children.

"She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer, which will benefit thousands of women across the UK."
Mourners started arriving at the house to pay tribute to Goody within minutes of the news breaking.
Jackie Marron, who was among those leaving floral tributes at the gates, described Goody's work to highlight the risks of cancer as an "inspiration".

Okay, you may noticed that I just copied and pasted this from the high-rep media source BBC.

Despite the 'massive race row' with Shilpa Shetty in her first big Brother appearance and the fact that she thought that East Anglia (where I live) was abroad, I liked her. And she will be missed.

    Your thoughts?

Aren't there better people to have a government endorsed funeral for than some actor? Any death is saddening and I am sorry she is gone but what really pisses me off about the news is how they treat popular culture in relation to reality. How many soldiers died in Iraq today? You'll never know because no one cares. They just want the fly-by-night story and the prime minister wants the youth vote. Ratings and power, that's what its all about. If he truly cared about this girl he wouldn't have gone on TV or to a reporter telling them how sad he was.

Maybe I'm wrong, though. I don't know him and I can't claim to understand why people do what they do but I have my hunches. The only person you can know is thy self and, personally, I want to know about the soldier who died and I want the nation to grieve for him as they do this actor.

To be fair, theres millions of people UNDER 27 with cancer and they have to live on nothing but she is spoiled she gets anything she wants JUST BECAUSE SHES RACIST. I do think its bad how she died but thats Karma for ya'. Sure they should have a funeral and all with her but just keep it all normal. Noone was really interested in her before she had Cancer. R-I-P Jade Goody -27

Thats a good point but the youth vote thing is rubbish, aload of my mates were talking on the way to the shop and i mentioned the irony of death on mothers day, and they all said good riddance and made jokes.

i didnt see what was wrong with her, and the racism is a load of crap. i have loads of black mates and i say ****** all the time and they laugh.

kids and teens didnt give a crap about her TBH.

    Yes.

I think her funeral was televised today, not much point to that but it's sad to see anyone with cancer die. She isn't the best woman in the world, having been racist and plain out rude on TV but hopefully she will be remembered for what she did to raise awareness of cervical cancer. A lot more women have gone in for testing (more than with any NHS project) and it is that what should be remembered.
