I wanted to make a team slayer game that you would get rewarded if you could kill the entire time in certain time intervals, not for individual kills, and that is the idea I used for this gametype. Here's what is below -The gametype -Weapons that are allowed -Making a map Gametype As stated above, the gametype is called war and it is a team slayer varient. I have modified several traits, so pay close attention. -Battle rifle start -SMG secondary -Damage given is reduced to 90% -Damage taken is increased to 110% -No motion tracker -No icons above allies -No use of vehicles -110% shield recharge rate -No starting grenades -Respawn time is 30 seconds -No betrayel or suicide penalty -Synchronized spawn is enabled -Every person has a waypoint visible to everyone else -Time limit is 8 minutes -You get no points for a kill -You do not lose any points for suicide or betrayel -You get one point for eliminating the last player on a team. CP traits -15 seconds -Good camo -Normal speed Now how this gametype works is you have unlimited lives, and when you die, your respawn is 30 seconds. Now, the other team will try to kill your team in the 30 seconds that you are gone, and your team will continue to try to kill the other team or may decide to just try to stay alive. Once those thirty seconds are up, the dead teammates on your team will respawn together, because of synchronized spawning, and they have to try again because you will have a full team. The way to get points is to exterminate the entire team, which you will have 30 seconds to do once you kill the first person. Exterminating an entire team will earn you one point. The kills are to unlimited, so you play until the time limit is reached, and the team with the most points wins the game. Guns/Grenades/Powerups - all of the following are allowed -Battle Rifle: This is essentially like the assault rifle in normal matchmaking games. There should only be 0-4 of them per map, yet it should be on a 10 second respawn. Place the two or one for each team in prime spawn areas so when you spawn, you can have a full BR just to start. Since it is a starting weapon, there should be plenty of ammo if you move around enough. -SMG: You start with a secondary SMG but you can still put a fair few on the map. They should have a 60-90 second respawn. What I have found out is dual SMGs destroy in this gamtype. They are therefore thought of as a mini power weapon. You should never exceed 6 of them on the map. They should be placed around the edges so you have to go out of your way to get them in the beginning. -Rocket Launcher: The rockets are a major power weapon. They should always be ona 3 minute respawn and should have no spare clips. They should be placed as far out of the way as possible in a low cover area so they are difficult to get if being shot at. They should also be low so when you get them, you are no immediatly in an amazing position. There should be only two on a map. -Brute Shot: The brute shot is a power weapon because of its explosiveness and its very strong beatdown. They should be placed towards the outer edge of the map and there should be no more than 2 on a map. They should have a 90 second or higher respawn. -Sniper Rifle: Snipers can generally be placed anywhere on the map. Since there are no extra clips, a 2 minute respawn will work fine. The best place is on the back edge or near the base. Keep away from other power weapons or power ups. Keep in mind that when you pick up the sniper, you should not be engaged immediatly in a sniper fight with the opposite sniper. -Assault rifle: These are to be placed anywhere among the map. When placing them, just place them like you would place a Battle rifle in a normal competitive map. -Carbine: Nothing new with the carbine. Best spot is in higher up areas. Although, you will probably want 4-8 of them depending on your map size. The spawn time can be lower if it needs to be but 30 seconds should be fine. -Magnum: Magnums do better in the center of the map, like green box on the pit. They are generally placed together because most people will not just pick up one magnum. Another good spot for them is anywhere you think you need to place a weapon. -Spikers: A bit weaker than the SMGs but they are still pretty powerful. As they are not used as much, putting them in the middle of each side of the map will work well, like the default spawn on the pit. 2 spikers for each team will generally work well. -Plasma rifle: Plasma rifles are powerful when combined with the number of dual-wieldable weapons available. Therefore, there is no need to have more than 4 on a map, but the best number for a medium sized map would be 2. They should be placed alone unless they are on a large map. Other than that, try to keep them away from the edges of the map. -Needler: Needlers are also like a mini power weapon. You should never have more than 2 on a map. They must have a 90 second or higher respawn. They should be placed out of the way to increase movement to other areas. Depending on the map, this weapon may be too overpowering and you might not want it at all. -Plasma grenade: Plasmas are a power weapon because they can essentially be a one hit kill and are good for flushing people out of areas. You can have the spawn at whatever you want but there should be no more than one pair of them on the map. They should also be placed in a central location. -Frag grenade: Frags are considered a mini power weapon as well, but there respawn should not be changed. They are only to be placed in the middle of the map. Because you don't spawn with grenades, to get them, you will have to be risky and that is why they are placed in the middle. -Custom powerup: The custom powerup gives you camo for 15 seconds and because there is no radar, it can be decently powerful. This should have a 120 second respawn. This should be placed in an open area away from any other power weapons or power ups. -Overshield: The overshield should be placed in an open area, but a harder to reach area than the custom powerup. it should also have a 120 second respawn. Keep it away from any other power weapons and power ups. **I will do some testing with equipment more and other weapons but these are the set weapons I will have for now.** Making a Map Now for the map, it can be made on most maps. The one thing you want to avoid though are very narrow or very linear maps. Narrows can be done, but you would need another way to get to the other side, possible a set of teleporters, but try to avoid them. You want to be able to flank on many sides. The map should not be too big as that makes it much harder to exterminate the entire team if, for example, you have 30 seconds to run across sandtrap. The start of the game, you want people to spawn as far back as possible in them map.The start is also not supposed to be a break for a power weapon in the middle like normal team slayer games. That would give a team an advantage if they got said weapon. Therefore, Each team will get the same amount of a weapon or powerup that the other team gets. To make the middle worth your while though, this is the place you want to place your grenades. Since grenades are pretty powerful in this gametype, they need to be in a risky place to obtain them. The map will probably need to be symmetrical. This is because you need the map to be as fair to both teams as possible and symmetrical maps obviously does this best. Asymmetrical maps are possible but they will need to be completely balanced. If one team has better holding spots for example, the other team will have a harder time killing of the entire team. Weapon set may also be an issue as you need an equal amount for each team. This gametype is supposed to be slower and require more teamwork than team slayer does. You also do not want to die because of the respawn. Because of this, in areas that lack cover, you need to either place a power weapon there or add some cover or else that area will probably not be used. You don't need to worry about hiding spots within the map too much because everyone has a waypoint so they can't sit in one spot without people knowing. The one problem is your map cannot be escapable. If someone were to escape, it would make it impossible to gain any points because there will always be one person alive so this is probably the most important aspect. Lastly, the weapons don't need to be in certain areas, just spread them out well. Make sure to keep weapons out of the middle and to give the same amount to each team. The real thing you have to watch for is there should not be any battles when each team picks up a weapons, an example would be the snipers on the pit, you pick them up and start shooting at each other immediatly. So what are your thoughts on it?
Haha, I am. I am still massively testing this. it constantly gets updated although the general idea is still there. Also, the first map is on the pit and its basically done (its at least playable).
This seems like an amazing idea, like a city type map on foundry or i feel like if you could have just the base and camp froman on Last Resort this would be amazing. Dude good ideas, hit me up on XBL sometime and we can forge. But i can't go on today since i have practice and a bio notebook to do. GT: ihavok iz siick
I read it... I think the idea is good, so every time you kill a whole team you get 1 point. It would be impossible for big parties but maybe for 4v4... I thnk the score to win should be 10 becuz of how hard it is to get a point.... Good idea though EDIT: Are you asking us to make maps for this?
yeah thats the idea. but keep in mind, the respawn is 30 seconds so it is doable. If you have a bigger party, you could always raise the spawn time a bit, but 30 is a good medium. The only reason it is unlimited is a team can go off and get like 5 points really quick. But I'll think on it. Thanks for the ideas and kind words.
This idea of war is very interesting, but I have noticed one thing from the very start. Tactics are required. Since you respqwn in 30 seconds, you definetly DON'T want to die. Another thing is spawn killing. If you score a point, the entire team is eliminated and you have time to get power weapons and get prepared for them. I recommend placing spawn points everywhere you can think of reasonably to prevent this from hapening. Also can I help you make a map for this, it seems like some real work.
yeah, right now I have the pit default spawns but you can spawn on any side of the map so its good for 4v4 and 5v5, or at least It has in the games I've played. yeah, you can send me a friend request on live and help out.
This is actually an interesting, well thought-out idea. The only thing I can think of as an immediate problem is the long respawn times. Wouldn't just be annoying to be waiting for 30 seconds to respawn all the time? Other than that, it looks really cool.
Its actually not too bad for the respawns and it is only the first person that dies that has to wait 30 seconds because even if the others do, you will all respawn when that first person respawns. And with the damage given down and resistance up, its harder to die. But thanks for your concerns. I may try to find a way around it.
intresting idea i like it i could see it being like the next conquest or something if done right good luck hope you do good theres some possible peoblems i see like the power weapons once most of the team is killed everyone from the other team would gather power weapons so probably just limit them with a long respawn time but i really like this idea
yeah, the rockets and brute shot are a bit powerful for this and one of them may have to go but I will need to test it out. I have currently made the map for it on the pit and anyone who is interesting to test it should post on here or send a friend request to me on live (DimmestBread).
I can see some Gears of War remakes playing well with this gametype.hell, when I'm done my current maps I may even start a Gears Re-make.
