Marbles, a new kind of puzzle! Download Map here. Download Gametype here. Credits to IceDemon3 and LoneWarrior for helping me build and test this map. I couldn't have done it without you guys! Marbles, a map inspired by K & B's puzzle maps, is here after 6 hours of building and testing. The whole object of this puzzle is to use your trusty companion marble (the soccer ball), which will help you solve puzzles, to get to the oddball. This map has a total of 8 required puzzles and one optional. Spawning Puzzle 1: Introduction This isn't a puzzle as much as it is an obstacle course to warm you up and get the feel for rolling the ball around. The object is to roll your marble to the hole that leads to the next puzzle. Puzzle 2: Staircase external internal This also isn't much of a puzzle, it is just a test to see if you know how to manuever a marble in mid-flight. Hint for the less at mind, I gave you a BR for a reason. Puzzle 3: Don't Fall I'm not going to need to explain how to do this for you. Puzzle 4: Checkpoint This is the optional puzzle that will unlock you a checkpoint to be used if you die or are forced to start over in the future. Puzzle 5: Warehouse Unfortunatly, now you are forced to leave your faithfull companion marble behind to go look for something to help you advance forward. Puzzle 6: Room of Doom Now, the puzzles will no longer be a simple blowthrough, you are on your own now in search of... something. Puzzle 7: hallway Still you search as you come upon a network of hallways. There are two ways to sove this puzzle. Puzzle 7 1/2: Starting Over!?!?!?!?!? You should have finished puzzle 4. Back to puzzle 5: The warehouse. Now you have item you have been searching for, roll your companion marble back to puzzle five and use the item to finally get both you and your marble across. Puzzle 8: Finish This You are nearing the end, you can see your goal, this may however be the most annoying puzzle because failure to solve this will end up in your being sent to the beginning again. The challenge is simple if you can find it. Please comment, if you have any suggestions for future maps or just want to criticise me then please do.
Well its not like you used normal household objects to build it now didja? It's more of a rube Goldberg device than anything else I can think of, if you got a different way to explain it then I'm all ears. Otherwise, this map is fun and I just downloaded it.
Wow, very original, and creative. It looks very neat and challenging. I'll try it out right now and give you a better review. :squirrel_rocking:
This map looks and i'll try it out but im not usually good at any kind of puzzles. I'm also wondering is the gametype really needed because im almost out of space and i just wanna know if it's anything special.
Well thanks PerfectDark133t, I guess I would call it a serries of interconnected rooms that form together to make something one might call a puzzle and others a goldenburg devise. Either way I'm clad you commented on it along with everybody else.
Yeah, I'm glad you made it because it is so original for forge. I'm glad you took advantage of the Soccer Balls for this kind of map.
Actually, its nothing like a Rube Goldberg device. A Rube Goldberg devices have one thing that sets off a long chain of events due to that one starting event. This is a puzzle.
It's close...well from the pictures it does, I can't get on my Xbox right now to check it out though *Sadface*
I like the idea though, I'll try to build one, then post under asthetics later, hopefully in about a month.
I just realized, a Rube Goldberg device would be harder on Foundry because of the automatic immovable objects... :squirrel_wtf:
Wow looks fun, I am going to play it right now. Ok now that I have played it. There was no need whatsoever for the soccer ball in this map. Ok it may add a little extra to the experience but you do not need the ball to get through it. Some parts where a little annoying. It was well designed, but not the best.
Yeah, I know, but that isn't the whole point of the puzzle, besides, I enjoyed it and hope you guys enjoy it as well.
What you can do is grab the grav lift and ignore the soccer ball as you go to the last puzzle and use the grav lift to solve it instead of jumping on the soccer ball. I enjoyed it anyway. I'm working on a second in Rats Nest. I'm not that great of a forger though so It may take a while. I'm also going to try and make it impossible to cheat on.
The only anoying thing on it was the grav lift part. Took me a while to get the ball on the first one and second one was easier.
I really don't like puzzle games but this one looked interesting so I had a go at it. I got maybe half way through, I'll work on it some more later. Anyway, there's some nice parts and some annoying parts. I think you could benefit from more interlocking. Also, why exactly would I bother to roll the marble to the checkpoint when I can go there on foot, open it, and go back to the start? Anyway I really like the marble rolling game, it reminds me of old classics.
