Icarus This is my 2nd post here on ForgeHub and my first Sandtrap creation. I chose the skybox for no particular reason, and from all the frustrations that came with it, it will be my last skybox map. I got fed up with worrying about the risk of falling in most areas, and having to use a lot of resources just for railings. So I said F it, no railings, that will just be how the map is played. Anyways, I give you Icarus. The name came from the kill ball, it sort of looks like a mini-sun and there's that risk of getting to close to it. Basically,there is a square bi-level temple built around the kill ball with ramps leading to the top level, and ramps leading down to the bases on either side. The bases are well-fortified, loaded with different guns and can house the whole team at once comfortably, along with having foes come in and do battle. The main route to take will be your left ramp, a wider one, but the alternate way to take if you chose to pick up the snipe is to your right. The bridge starts off on the roofs of the bases. A narrow wooden bridge, only a block in width...use caution for this route. Supported Gametypes for 4-8 players: Capture The Flag (Multi Flag) Slayer (Team or FFA) King of the Hill (3 hills) Weapons: 4x Battle Rifles with 1 extra clip each, 30sec respawn each 2x Carbines with 1 extra clip each, 30sec respawn each 2x SMGs with 1 extra clip each, 30sec respawn each 2x Spikers with 1 extra clip each, 30sec respawn each 2x Maulers with 1 extra clip each, 45sec respawn 1x Sniper Rifle with 1 extra clip, 45sec respawn 1x Beam Rifle, 45sec respawn 2x Plasma Rifles, 30sec respawn each 2x Machine Gun Turrets, 30sec respawn each 1x Rocket Launcher with 1 extra clip, 60sec respawn Equipment: (all nades 10sec respawn) 2x Frag nades 2x Plasma nades 2x Firebombs 2x Regenerators Below are some screens: <<<Download Icarus Here>>> If you've gotten this far, I gotta hand it to you. Hopefully you didn't get too disgusted from looking at my map, I actullay first made this not too long after recieving the Mythic maps, and have just now put the finishing touches on this map. I realise there are a lot of similar skybox maps out there already, especially recently, but I just wanted to post this before skybox went out of style. lol. Yea this map looks pretty good, but just to let you know, sky box won't be going out of style for a long time,lol. but yea good map, kind of small but all in all,good map
Now this looks good. And I like the "Sunshine" reference, too. Quite an original map. Great layout. Since I like the map, and the movie, I'll give you an 8/10.
This looks great but I think you should set the firebomb nades to a longer respawn because they're really overpowered. Apart from that it looks extremely fun. You've got my DL.
Good job, the under ground looks nicely made but the bridges are a little too narrow and don't have cover, if you are ever going to come back to this map I would work on the outside areas
I would go and put railing, but I've used so much on the map that even with $100 left, it still gives me an error that says "Cannot place any more objects of that type" for any object I try to create. It's odd...I wish I knew what was wrong...anyways, I'd have to take away from the map just to add cover/widened walkways. :'(
You probably deleted the stuff already on the map before you started working says me. I haven't played Sandbox yet, but can you drag things from the crypt or sandbox into the bubble?
Yes you can drag objects from the crypt to the skybubble, preferrably through a teleporter, as for the map I like it. It seems like one of the few stable maps i've seen in the skybubble. I do agree with Darkastic with putting on railings. People wouldn't have any cover on the walways and could get picked off quite easily. One last recommendation that i have is to interlock your floors. They do run more smoothly compared to Foundry, but nades can still get caught and it improves your map's asthetics! Overall 7/10 Keep Posting Maps!
