Forgehub: Youtube? Who? ForgeHub... What? Well as many of you know there are a few other sites out there that really put forth the effort to making quality clips and videos for the Youtube community. One very famous one is Machinima. I always see people posting their great works of art on our Video section right here at ForgeHub and i wondered why our account at Youtube has no longer been active. So i decided to start my own, for the site, which i thought to be a good idea at the time. Why? I'm not 100% sure, but i believe that if we can gather up many of our videos and get them onto our youtube account then we will be exposing ourselves that much more to the halo/gaming community. Advantages: We will be sharing our videos with the youtube community as one channel. We will be able to gain far more views and subscribers then one solo channel. After some time we may even make a YouTube partnership. More to come... Disadvantages: The main disadvantage i thought about was us not being able to get enought videos. Some people may fear that their work will go to waste if they make the video then send it off and slap a big "Forgehub" tag on it, and those viewing the video may not see the creators name. Please discuss your opinions to this, and if you like it feel free to comment and help me out. I will no doubtable be sharing the name and password with a few people around the site, it will take alot of effort to keep it updated.
I think it's a great idea, but I've tend to notice that Blood Fire uploads a plethora of videos for Forgehub's maps and other purposes. I do like the idea of having an actual tag or user name of Forgehub. The disadvantage that you mention is not really a problem. All you have to do is, is whatever piece or product that the video is relating too you give credit in the description and/or on an annotation in the video. Also, I'm sure I can help out a little bit by advertising the channel if it were to be made but that is what this discussion is for I assume. I have plenty of viewers that watch my videos and I'm sure I can mention this.
I mean, i know blood has an account, but thats like his personal one for the site. What i want to do is get a channel and spread the username and password around to alot of the staff so everyone can upload videos. I dont really know where to go, it takes a few days before the channel works fully so we have some time to discuss.
Or what you can do is simply have one trusted person take care of the account. By means of this, someone who knows what there doing in terms of Youtube and someone who has the time to update this account when needed. Then you can just link the file to the person in control of the account. Personally, I know for a fact that the Staff are capable of doing something like passing the account around to each other yet I can for see some little problems with that. Not saying that problems would happen but I personally think it would be easier to have one single person manage the account if this account is to be made.
YouTube - ForgeHubTheatre's Channel This one was already made, but it's not used much. People forgot about it.
Thats my point. I don't know yet, I say we need a few people to help keep it updated. Actually put time into it unlike some other things. Basically, i mean we cant be all talk anymore. If we want to run a channel we need to put forth the effort
we already have blood fire's forging lessons... that covers most of it but a community channel sounds like a good place to feature some of the community montages etc. , but we dont get that many people making montages
