ok, so i'm in the early design stages for a map on sandbox, i've got 4 towers, each octagonal in shape, 1 wall wide each side, obviously i could use a grav lift to get to the top level, but would like to use something as stairs, anyone have any ideas how i could do this? bearing in mind there will be 4 towers, and about 4 single walls high...
stairs for a height of four single walls is insane. I can't really help much. In order to go through the transition from step to step requires it to go up by very small increments. What I suggest doing is angling a wall or box object so that it is angled upward and it acts like stairs. PROS: It has no chance of bumps and conserves objects. CONS: Does not have the same aesthetic beauty; Does not achieve desired texture. (Unless you want a bumpy surface texture)
you're right, 4 is probably gonna be too high... and 3 is probably big enuff for what i'm after, but yeah, i understand stairs aren't gonna be really do-able... just to give a bit more insight for peoples help, its going to be a castle... hence the towers, if anyone has any good ideas, feel free to help... its going to be for a territories map mainly i think... could incorporate some more types in, like 1 flag and 1 bomb, etc...
Do the math first. How many objects will you use? How steep is the stairs? Are the stairs going to be interlocked? If I were you, simply do a drawing using a ruler to measure things down to scale and graph paper. That is of course you want to take the time to do that.
