Sandbox High Rise - Ascension Remake

    [TOWER OF POWER IS NOW UP!] DOWNLOAD

    High Rise is a remake of Halo 2's "Ascenion". Unfortunately due to Limit issues, no objective gametypes are playable. The only way to play them on this map is to delete things that you deem unnessasary and simply add the Flag points or Assault spawns.

    This map follows a similar weapon layout to the original but changed. There is now only one sniper. This map is best suited for BR starts beings as there is only one BR.

    Rockets are on Island
    Oversheild is in the same place
    3x BR
    On the small tower is a plasma pistol. Since this is in the sky, the pp can take out the banshee quite easily if it's off the edge.
    There are plasma grenades in the big tower and plasmas on the ground outside of 'shotgun'
    Shotgun is in the same spot, a lower elavation than the main ground.
    And of course the banshee on the landing pad.

    CHANGES IN TOWER OF POWER
    All weapons removed.
    One Turret Added.
    More Spawns Added.
    This is to be played with a Tower of Power Slayer Varient where all people spawn with Shotguns and have no sheilds. Unfortunately I do not have space in my FileShare to provide a Link to MY varient but here is a link to a search on Bungie

    FIXES IN VERSION 2
    Teleporters are added.
    sniper platform is elevated.
    oversheild is no longer an elbow.
    More weapons added.
    One Flag supported.
    Mancannon Island is now accurate to Ascension's.

    Is there any weapon that will take down the banshee (i.e. a splazer, missle pod, or rocket)?

    Yes. There are rockets in the centre, and a pp in the sniper tower

    Ok, did you include the pad you jump down onto where the rockets used to be in Ascension?

    Nice map. The design looks okay and the layout seems to be smooth, I like the use of the banshee and like Vinco Onmia said do you have any powerful weapon capable of taking the banshee down. And for future reference when submitting a map please indicate what weapons, vehicles, power-ups and iventory items you have placed on the map so everyone knows what you have on it rather than just looking at the pics and figuring out for themselfs. Good job by the way.

    So far, this is the best ascension remake I have seen. However, I would have to say that I can easily see one coming out that is much more like the original than this one. It just seems too boxy in the places that shouldn't be, because those are the areas that are needed most to play like the original.

    this is a fun map to play on, but it's gameplay is nothing like that of ascension. I myself have been working on an ascension remake since the release of the mythic maps with HWLCE. It won't be finished for a while yet though.

    Quoted for truth. The gameplay is different and it will never be the same. No sandbox varient will ever be the same. Honestly, I'm just gonna use this for Tower of Power.

    i agree with crooked, it looks a little boxy where it shouldn't be. i know this is your first map, but do you know how to merge? you can use that to round out some areas.

    it overall looks like a very solid remake, it's definitely the first recreation i saw of ascension [there may be one, but idfk]. i will download this and tell you way you can improve your map once i get a better idea of it.

    Trust me there is a lot of merging. i ran out of rounds one games, luckily I saved just before :). But no, the ground is not merged at all, just the little stuff.

    This is the best Ascension remake I've seen so far, but I have some things to point out (mostly about Geometry, easily fixable for a v2). The small tower is supposed to be parallel to the large tower and the ramp from the banshee to the large tower is supposed to be a straight line, not an L, so that the players can jump from the little protruding wall from the main structure onto the catwalk (fixing this will also save you budget for other corrections OR even let you place objective spawns).
    There are a couple of leveling issues as well(such as the Sniper at small tower and most obviously the Rocket "island"), but overall I would say that this is a good remake, just keep those things in mind if you intend to make a v2.

    EDIT: Also, if you delete the columns used as railing around the Overshield ramp (after making it straight of course) you will get a lot of budget and objects back. This railing is not really necessary and I think it will add to how the map plays (players will have to protect themselves from others as well as watch where they step while going for the Overshield).

    Thank you Squirrel for your excellent feedback. I do plan on making a V2 as why I posted here for feedback.

    For my next version I will make the oversheild bridge straight, and I will try to make the Rocket Island a little better. Maybe even add in the teleporters. I will also try to have the same weapon layout if the budget/limit is not an issue.

    Just an idea, but it might be a good Idea to replace one of the snipers with a Splaser.

    I wouldn't say it's a remake. This is more of an alternative. There is another map someone made that is much more of a remake. No harm intended, but this map still is cool i guess.

    I was thinking that you could move the rocket island far away from the main structure so that jumping the mancannon will just barely get you back to the middle. But then it would be a necessity to use teleporters, which I'm not really against if you ultimately have the budget to do so. Either way, the point is to make it more difficult to grab the rocket launcher in a way at least similar to Halo 2.

    This is the best remake of it yet, though it seems to boxy and changes game play significantly. Though a remake will never have the exact game play of its original I think you could of done a better job... If you're doing a V2 I'd recommend making the walk way from the big tower to banshee pad slanted like the original map. Make the small tower less crooked, and change the ramp where the sniper spawns at the small tower to be less boxy, use interlocking if you must. Other then that, it's still the best remake out, I am hoping for a V2.

    I would replace the rockets with a laser. In H2 the rockets were the main anti vehical weapon. I played a small FFA on it last night. I thought it looked and played pretty good. The Banshee was just a bit overpowerd without a laser or something to balance it. Good job overall.

    Looks really good, but as mentioned above, the gameplay doesn't feel right at all. It feels like I'm playing on a custom sandbox map, not Ascension. Also, one of my favorite things to do was climb up the pillars in the center, and snipe from up there. Although it is impossible to make them rotate using your limited resources, I still think that you should make them much taller and climbable.
