Sanctus Pugna Download here Alrighty folks. This is my first map posted here. Please be gentle. So the inspiration of this map comes from the desire to have a good objective based map, with good cover, not as open as the default Sanbox map. Each end has an identical base. With plenty of cover in between the bases. From running around on the map, as far as I can tell there isn't a stright shot from end to end on the ground level of the map. Minus the boarder in the sand. I don't have enough friends in my friends list to test it properly. So I am hoping for some good response from here. Also there is a custom power up floating high above the middle of the field just for pretties. As for the bases, they are inspired by the Blodd Gulch and Beaver Creek bases from the past games. There is a teleporter behind each base for quick transport (they may have to be taken out, depending on the review). And ther are two Mongooses behind each base as well. One quick reminder, I added fusion coils after these pictures were taken. Number of players: 6-16 Supported Game types: Capture the Flag Assault Big Team Slayer Weapons: Battle Rifles (4 per base, four in the middle) Assualt Rifle (4 on the map, all in the middle) Brute Shot (1 per base, I think 1 spar clip) Sniper Rifle (i per base, 1 spar clip) Carbines (I think 4 per base) Plasma Rifles (in the middle of the map) Plasma Pistols (in the middle of the map) Spikers (two per base, and a few in the middle) SMGs (two per base, and a few in the middle) Maulers (1 per base) Needlers (1 per base) Sentinel Beam (in the middle, one for each side) 7-Wood/Gravity Hammer (right smack in the middle, just because I think it's funny to beat someone down Casey Jones style) There probably more weapons on the map than I can recall. I know used every BR in the inventroy. Equipment: Bubble Shields (1 on ground level in front of each base) Regenarator (1 on top of each base) So here are the pictures: Overview (Before advise) Over view (After advise) Neutral territory views Red base (note: Wodden bridges have been replaced with double walls) Blue base (note: Wodden bridges have been replaced with double walls) So there you have it. Please leave constructive criticism, like I said this is my first map I have posted here. Oh one more thing, the name ROUGHLY translated means "Holy Battle" in Latin. I ran it through a translator I found through Google.
From the pictures it looks like a pretty good map. I don't see a lot of interlocking, though not necessary it helps the appeal of the map. I am going to download this and try to get a somewhat large party even though I don't have many people with the maps. It does look symmetric witch is good. I hope to respond with good game play.
Hey I love this map,i don't have the new maps but my friend does, this map is really set up good and has a very large variety of weapons, which is really kool,it also has alot of cover, lol, which is good and bad,it has alot of camping areas but if you play with the right people, thiis map is really fun
Nice map, though it might seem a bit cluttered. Sometimes to much cover is a bad thing. This cold be a great SWAT map but for something like BTB there shouldn't be a time when you don't know where the enemy is going to jump out like on a smaller map like Pit or Contruct. I don't know, Big team maps are hard to get a group for but when I do I'll see if it plays OK. You might want to reduce atleast some of the stuff in the middle also the wooden planks on top of those arch things don't look straight. When you interlock you should use guides and braces so they don't come out crooked
Yeah. The wooden planks kinda bugged me, but not too much. I will go mess with it and see if I can get them straightened out. @ Star of Kights: Where were the camping areas at? I hadn't even thought about that.
This map looks pretty good! One thing I noticed from your pictures was the scaffolding that made a bridge, you should interlock those to make them more smooth and less of an eye sore... However, good map...
I agree with STWOW. The map seems just a bit too cluttered. Although this "Clutter" is cover. You wouldn't want to overload on cover, it detracts from good gameplay. I would suggest removing a few pieces of cover. I like your layout though. Seems really good for Big Team Slayer. Nice big assortment of weapons. The only thing wrong is too much cover like I said. Just keep that in mind and update your map. Other than that, it's a great map. Keep Forging.
Ok. So I went in and removed some of the cover. Now it's not going to look like much, but I removed some of the really big blocks and wedges. And I replaced a couple of them with half walls. Then I moved around some of the other cover into the open area where ther bigger blocks were. To me it opened it up quite a bit. There is a now a before and after over view picture at the top. I also replaced the wooden bridges with double walls. Though in the picutre above I forgot to switch them to be on the map at the start of the game. But I fixed it and they do line up much better than the wooden bridges. Also, if you make a change to a map that is in you file share, does it automaticlly update the map in you file share if you make changes to it? Or do you have to delete it everytime and then reloads it?
