HIEROGLYPH Created by XGC Gavin Download HIEROGLYPH Supported Gametypes: Capture the Flag Team Slayer Map Description This is a symmetrical map on the sand dunes level. Best game types are Team Slayer and CTF. 6-12 players. Battle Rifle starts recommended. The front of the base has a mancanon to take you up, shield doors block vehicles from being stuck in the shaft. The other way in is to simply walk up the ramps on either side. Or as a quick entrance pop a grav lift from the back. The warthog and brute chopper are the only vehicles but driving them will take skill. The "trench" will provide cover to infantry when the vehicles are down, but while they are up the vehicles use the trench and fun box as the main paths for driving. Overall the balance between vehicle and infantry is good. Rockets, power drains, and fair amount of plasma grenades are evenly placed around the map. Along with extra BRs, ARs, and frag grenades. In the base there are needler and mauler spawns. In the center of the map is where the only bubble shield spawns. I think this map looks great, especially the middle base and the read and blue base. But I think you should mix up the weapons a bit and only have 1 rocket launcher on the map right in the middle.
nice map. 3.5/5 but only because i dont like some of the aesthetics. others a great. but like the bit with cannon man to the top of the bases, the slab that makes you go down, i dont like it. love the weapons, vehicles, and everything else though and those arches.
The layout alone looks interesting enough to earn my download, I will check it out later today and hopefully play a few rounds, then return to edit this post. Edit: Just did a forge-through, this map looks like it will be amazing to play objective games on. Can't wait to try it out.
The rockets spawn at 90 secs, and only have two shots in them. The warthogs and choppers spawn at 90 secs as well. The balance works well, I didn't want the hog or chopper to be ALL POWERFULL. Thanks for the comment, I'll take your suggestion into consideration. I agree with you about the top of the man cannon, it's not pretty but it's functional. Thanks for the comments.
Really well build middle structure, which is both traversable for spartans and vehicles, good weapon balance, and enough cover. 4.2-5
I'm with you on that, sometimes less is more. You don't want 15 different weapons placed around the map that nobody is going to use.
Nice map, it definitely looks symmetric and it seems smooth although it might look better if you were to hide the man-can that leads you to the second floor by fusing it into a block which can be placed behind the tube-intercept, other than that it looks great!
This is great. For semmetrical and asymmetrical games. Nice job. But you should change on base and only have it spawn for one sided games. thatd be awsome. I can see this winning or well being a runner up next best of forge competition.
Thanks for all the comments guys, I'm pretty new around here and it's nice to have a constructive community offering good advice, not just "I hate it" comments. These forums are NOTHING like what you see on b.net
i agree that there could be a little different weapon variety on the map and 1 rocket might be better. i like the overall look of the map and the asthetics fo both of the bases. overall 4.5/5 i am most likey going to download and play it with sum friends!!
Thanks for all the constructive criticism, I will test different weapon layouts but currently it feels balanced.
This is a pretty awesome looking map dude, I just have a couple suggestions for you. I was playing with transactionzero and Shadow viper and we found there was too much equipment in the center. I would remove at least the grav lifts. As well, I would like to see the base areas at the top of the lifts expanded a little. Great looking map.
