Hey ForgeHub what's up? Long time looker, first time poster, and first actual map attempt. I'm not good with a lot of fancy texts on forums so this is going to be pretty basic and simple. Hopefully I can just manage to get these rules right. I want all the criticism you guys can throw at me. I'm very open to changes and the like. If you don't feel like posting a whole lot of changes maybe just give me a word or two about how you felt? Thanks. Realm v1 This map took me between 8 and 10 hours to complete. I had no real basis for it aside from some wild ambition that people would like it and decided I wanted to comply with MLG standards before even starting. I just started with the center (custom powerup) area and did whatever felt natural and unique after that. A friend told me he thought it would make a good capture the flag map but I disagreed and thought it would really only suit a slayer game type. You can decide for yourselves I suppose. v FILE SHARE LINK v REALM v1 ^ FILE SHARE LINK ^ So my brief description... I went for a Pit style opening with three major rush locations to get too and four players for a team. I tried to include at least two ways to get out of every area. I also wanted a real dynamic mix of open areas for some sniping and also tight areas such as the tunnels and spawn areas for CQC battle rifling, nades, and rockets. A few other notes... it's symmetric if you can't tell. It's very easy to get picked off by team BR if you're in the open. This map will test your skill with nades because of some of the open thin areas. I used the Forge object limit apparently so whatever I add would have to take the place of something else. It takes a few run throughs to get used to with all the possibilities for suiciding off the edge. OK the pictures. Few more comments follow them. View from the end of the map above Rocket Spawn View from the side above Blue Base My favorite (but most pointless) shot of the map from beneath Rocket Spawn, Tunnels, and the Mancannon that jumps right in front of Custom A shot consisting of just the tunnel area so you can get a feel for the interior Medium shot of the middle map from Red Base Diagonal view taken from one of the Sniper spawns Close up view of the Custom area Well there you have it. Be honest and trash it if you hate it. I like replies and I don't mind the nature of them. You know even if you feel it's not MLG material but rather a Competitive map, that's fine. So from AoR Wildside and the rest of the AoR community - Thanks for taking a look and I hope you enjoy. I'll check back in tomorrow
I'm not an MLG fan, but this looks like a decent enough normal map. However, if you choose to make a V2, try and smooth some things out, perhaps interlock more. But for what's here, and because I'm a sucker for Skybubble maps, you get a nice little 7.5/10.
I think that's kinda harsh.. I do like the MLG style, and the symmetry, but if he was to go for a true MLG design, he wouldn't have emplaced a rocket launcher. I tend to think of this more as a competetive map, but in my opinion, it can pass as a MLG map. The forging used is superb, I can't see any real flaws to the design. Map 4.5/5 Thread 4./5 Pics 5/5 Overall 4/5 But to compensate for the previous post, i'll give it a five.
Oh really, I just thought they were unpreferred. Well that makes sense now and I was thinking about changing the scaffolding for a block so it looks more natural and adding some lower cover in place of the shield doors because they kinda stand out athestically. On a further note I've never merged or used advanced floating techniques. I understand, mastersync, why you might think it doesn't fit together especially well because I crafted it all together with very basic dragging so it really is quite primitive by modern forge technique And yes if I do make a version 2 I will try to adopt merging practices
This is much better than any other MLG sandbox maps i've seen so far and looks like a great map overall. The shield doors aren't really MLG but they might be able to make an exception. Polish it off, merge it to perfection, and playtest the spawns a little and maybe you can get it accepted as MLG Realm.
I agree, but I have only played MLG 3 times (no joke) but I love it! I will most certainly download this map because of its pure awesomeness and sky bubblingnessish. This just looks cool. *looks at pictures again* yay
I would recommend removing the rockets from their spawn. The reason being that you can just grab rocks and instantly go off the man cannon and get custom. Thats an extremely overpowered combo.
