    Map Title: The Mountain V2
Join the War to the top! King of the hill. 6 - 16 players.

    Download Map
    Download Gametype (Called "Mountain2 War")

    Description:

This is version two of my last map, The Mountain. However, I have completely started again, and redesigned the whole mountain itself, making it symmetrical; as well as redesigning the starting locations and game type, which I will describe more in-depth below. The major development from version 1 is from the most common complaint, that the map was too "sloppy". The first was made quickly in one day as an original idea, I have spent a lot more time aligning this one and thinking through each box, as I did not wish this map to be as sloppy.

Spanning the sky, this map's central mountain doesn't appear difficult to climb - but try climbing it whilst being shot at!

The map's design is for two teams, red and blue, as they battle to take hold of the mountain that takes up most of the map. They climb to the top to reach the goal - and be the King of the hill!

The map contains just one hill, a central point.

The map itself is made mostly out of boxes, as these were a generic shape, allowing me to make a planned-out and geometric landscape. This meant that the map is completely symmetrical, which is important as to not give one team an advantage.

Inside the mountain it is close-quarters combat, as each team struggles back-and-forth to gain ground on the mountain. Once the first tier has been taken, it is not he end; they must defend this first tier whilst conquering the second, then the third. When they get to the forth, they reach the prize! The hill is on a small plateau at the top.

Each team starts separated, to stop spawn-killing, which was a problem on version 1. When they start at the side of the mountain, they are greeted with this view:

They may take path A, which leads them inside and up the mountain, such as has been described above. Or, they may take path B, which leads to an open field, with a constant fire-fight, as seen below:

The game type is not much different to normal team King of the Hill. However, ammo is spent quickly in this map, so players start with pistols as secondary weapons. There are also no grenades on the map or in the game type to stop grenade-jumping, which was also a problem in version 1.

The final development from version 1 is the very limited use of shield doors. I received a lot of complaints about their over-use in version 1, and I have almost completely removed them for version 2. This forces players to not just defend the hill from around them, but from above and below as well.

I hope you download and enjoy playing my map! Any feedback would be much appreciated!

p.s. Although it was not designed for this purpose, the map should work quite well on team slayer as well, as long as it stays two teams.

Your forging is very mediocre and i would recommend more interlocking and maybe some geo-merging to spice things up and to give players more paths. Even if the map is meant to look edgy and scruffy, it doesn't need to be just stacked on top of each other, interlocking and geo-merging - if done properly - can result in very neat but scruffy and hard aesthetics. Just a little advice. And if you placed the shotgun before sign A, then it would result in encouraging close quarter battles instead o having it right near the mid range skirmishes are. This is just to help the map flow and have better, faster paced gameplay.

good idea - I'll put some more guns, thanks!

And I'm starting on interlocking, but I'm not very good yet. I've enjoyed making The Mountain V1 and V2, maybe I'll make a V3 in the future with interlocking and geo-merging.

The layout of the map itself is very good, however, it has a few design flaws. 1# add MUCH more cover in path B, no-one will ever take it otherwise. 2# Add more hills, it makes the map less repetitive. Also, interlocking would definitely make the map better, but I can understand you don't want to make the map all over again. 4/5.

Alright, you do not need interlocking or geomerging to make a good map. Nice map, i like the idea and how open you are when you are up top. But the spawns look way too open. You should put some cover in there. Maybe put in a power weapon like a sniper at the top to give the person controlling the hill a little help. But do not put a sniper outside the hill because then one person could sit back and snipe people out of the hill, and yes i agree put some more weapons in, it looks a little bare. But overall 9/10

Usually maps with interlocking are better. Not because of the fact that they're interlocked but because the interlocking shows that the creator put a lot of work into the map. This map looks like it could be built in just a few hours, and does nothing to differentiate itself from the millions of other foundry maps. The outer ring is lacking essential cover, the bridges should be flipped, and you should interlock everything. Adding some sweet aesthetics will also get you more dl's. If I see an improved V3 I'll consider downloading...

Yes, that may be so, but you MUST look into the fact that a lot of people do not have the time to interlock, and as for the map, I see no problem with it besides the weapon placement. 4/5
