This was a "Do Now" for my english class.

Question: Are you ashamed of anyone in your family? Does anyone in your family embarass you? What do they do? Why is this embarrasing? How do you handle it?

Response: One sunny day, I was throwing a tantrum in a local Brooklyn grocery store becouse I wanted candy. My mother said, "No!" and eventually started spanking me in the public until my ass would glow in the dark. Looking back at it now, I'm more embarresed of myself then of my mother spanking me. Note the I was only 6 :p

Would any of you like to share your experiences?

Well my dad is a asshole, spends all his paychecks on tools while my mom has to work 2 jobs, my oldest sister has a baby with her boyfriend which both live with parents and work in stores like Shaws or Walgreens, and the sister I go to highschool with is, well this is going to sound harsh but this is what 90% of my friends say, looks like big foot.

My mom (Besides the love), my sister that goes to college, and my cousins are the ones that I woulden't call embarassing.

Oh gosh no. Your family is what made of you today! There really isn't a reason to be. I'll admit that my sister is the outcast in the family, but shes okay.

I pissed in a bottle and showed it to my Dad's new gf the other day.

    No one embarrasses me, though.

Even though everyone here has probably felt what it is like to be embarrassed at least once by their parents at least in my eyes I believe that people shall never be ashamed of their parents.

A majority of the members on this site are in the age range of 12-18 and odds are they still live with their parents. Think about how can you be ashamed of your parents when they have risen you up all your life. Some of my friends hate their parents for little things that they have done and think their friends are way much more important then their friends. Odds are is by the time High School is over all of your friends you've made throughout your life will be lost. Your parents will always be there for you.

My family is great. My parents and I still go out to eat together a couple times per month. Sometimes they do weird things, but if popularity is more important than family, society is more ****ed up than it should be.

Well, I have problems talking to my parents. Not because they embarrass me or are mean or anything, it's just that my dad can never be serious, and my mom is way too serious and blows everything out of proportion. They always tell me I'm a really good kid, which I am. I've never been in a fight with my parents, grounded, sent to my room ect. and can go days without talking to them even though they live in the same house as me. I've probably spent more time collectively talking to friends than my parents. They're just kind of there. Right now I have not talked to my dad for about a week.

Not ME.. but my older brother.

Was at this girl's big house party when he was 17.
My mother insists on coming in with him to check things out make sure it was safe and **** (embarassing enough as it is)

two friends of his (girls) meet him at the door.

One mentions that it was the other's birthday.

My mother starts singing happy birthday (No one else was singing it although there was a cake :/ ) My mother is the only one singing, it was super awkward and stuff.. she SANG THROUGH THE ENTIRE HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG.

I am extremely embarrassed by this and I wasn't even there.

No one in my family has really done anything severe enough to warrant me being ashamed of them. As for embarassment, everyone's been embarassed by their parents or other family members at least once. Baby pictures are the worst for that.

I avoid going places with my family and keep my head down when I do because they are weird and do embarrassing stuff. Aside from that they are normal so long as they are not in a place with me where there are people I know.

My family is my family. They do what they do and I accept that. I'm a calm, cool, centered individual and what they do never embarrasses me. Considering my family's crazy I guess I'm just use to them.

family is family no matter what they do. My dad always jokes around with me ( and my friends and they don't even have a problem with it) My mum/mom isn't always joking around but i make it my main priority to make her laugh when I'm around her. My brothers and sisters i get along with most of the time. BUT nieces and nephews get the worst. I'm ashamed of some of them. Mainly due to lack of respect.
