I don't know if this has been touched on, but a note to those planning to make objective-based games with movable objects (oddball... flag etc.) on the skybubble.. be warned... if the objective falls to the ground below, it will not reset... those goes for anything movable actually... even equipment (if they are not activated)
Yes they will. Unless you have them to never respawn. Oddball and Flag have a timed reset on them to that unless you turn off will keep resetting them. Just like on every other map. It is however not instant like throwing them off of Construct, Guardian, or any other map with a long drop. But more like throwing them outside of the auto turrets on Snowbound.
To clarify, once it's off the map and onto the ground level of Sandbox, it will not reset automatically. You will have to tinker with flag reset options yourself. The problem is that you will have to make the respawn set to a small amount of time, but then it comprises the objective gameplay, because I think there is a good balance when the respawn timer is longer. It probably won't be a problem with MLG-flag gametypes as the flag respawn time isn't long. That's my problem with the skybubble for objective gametypes, as it becomes a "bring the flag home the whole way or not" rather than a second chance to bring the flag home or to protect the flag." well, if you have a decent floor for it to land on and maybe small barriers on the edge, it won't be a problem.
So now it goes back to whether your map will be breakable in a sense, especially when submitting maps for ATLAS. Damn.
i didn't see any posts on this yet, so... there are 3 different movable blocks for the switch makers - Block Tiny and Column, Damaged Small are good sizes for small doors and can be easily moved with grenades and grav lifts - unfortunately they are not square on all sides Block Small is a bit of an oddity - it is a medium size cube shaped block which cannot be moved by grav lift or rocket fire, only by large vehicles - it would make an excellent one time use gravity door (until reset)
Thanks NOKYARD. Is there no "Dumpster" Like object then? Something that cannot be moved by grenades and rockets, but can be moved with a grav lift/man canon?
IF thats the one I'm thinking, its about the size of a crate...and can be moved by mancannons (thank god)
A few questions about Killballs: 1. Can you see through Killballs? 2. Can you shoot through Killballs? I also heard that you can survive the Killball if you throw a bubbleshield in it. 3. If you throw it near the core of the Killball, does it destroy the bubbleshield? 4. By using bubbleshield, can you stand directly next to the Killballs core without dying?
are you sure you cant shoot through killballs? that would be the ultimate way to ensure that grav hammer or energy sword guy couldnt get you.
So, let's talk gameplay. You can block off an entrance with a Killball. But if you place an insta-respawning bubbleshield in front of it, you can 'dig' your way through it, right? It might be hard to picture. Sorry for my lack of 1337 d3scr1bing sk1llz
Say you had 2 killballs aligned in a hallway, you have 4 teammates, each with a bubble shield. How do you get to the other end? throw one down, walk in, go to the edge, throw the next, etc. bubbleshields are not "instantly deployed" so instarespawn wouldn't get you far.
Thank you SergeantSarcasm for answering my questions, it helped me picture the gametype I want to create when the maps come out (you lucky bastard ). But I can't help to ask one teeny weeny question: do shield doors also protect you from Killbals like bubbleshields do? Thanks again.
yah, even if you made a shield door box, it still isnt united, so youd just die.... and @ sarge, when i said the ultimate defense against sword or hammer guys, i mean that they cant lunge or hit through the ball without dying first, so you could just keep going around shooting them while they can do nothing.
yah but sum noobs would just grab the ball and **** it up. now if you played a game where there were several man cannons and they shot the killball all around a small map, that would be truly great. give everyone 1 life. last one standing wins. oh, and theres nowhere to hide!
