for FFA slayer, which do you find to be more enjoyable? I find myself usually creating symmetrical maps, I don't know why but I get more inspiration out of it.
Weapon placement/power should be symmetrical at all times. Other than that, build what you feel is right.
I'm going to agree with AZN on this one. As long as the weapons are balanced and cover is provided, it doesn't really matter.
Symetrical means that either two sides are the same or all 4 sides are the same, or in a triangle all 3 sides would be the same. Think Foundation, Warlock, Desolation, The Pit. Non-symetrical (Asymetric) are maps where both sides are different, think High Ground, Colossus. Maps that are sort-of geared toward objectives. At least I think those are fairly good examples ....
Yeah I thought about that, Highground is probably the best exampls of an asymetric map. Ivory Tower is one that comes to mind from Halo 2 ..... most of the ones i think of have some sort of symetry to them. Sorry if my faulty logic has completely confused you. ;D
Ivory tower is not symetrical, yes there is the center lift to the upper floor but the approaches on the mid-level are completely different. Not to mention the lift placement. I'm going to have to disagree with you there.
It is a lot easier to make balanced symmetrical maps than asymmetrical ones. Never even trying to make something good and asymmetrical is a sign of weakness ;p
What about the Labyrinth??? Anyways, I agree... if you have little knowledge of balancing, do a symmetrical map.
Sentinel beam = No balance... that's why it is not on ranked playlists. Does not need more BRs... there is limited Mid-Ranged combat. Weapons must be tailored to the map. And there are a total of 4 BR-type weapons (including carbines), a typical mid-range/long-range/open map requires 6-8 BR-type weapons. Labyrinth is a close range/minor mid range (mainly second floor)/covered map. BR-type weapons should be kept to a minimum. And we didn't put more stick-type grenades, because we wanted a focus on Frags, for mainly bounce aim practice. We wanted to limit stick-type weapons for a reason.
Lukems? Is this the secret GT that you have hinted to in Podcasts? or do we have an imposter in our midst? ;D
But... :'( I totally dominated AZN FTW on his Conquest map* with Sticks and a BR. You should really watch this replay. Although it really loses a little something without AZN FTW running at me screaming "WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT STICKING?" Which leads me to my next quote response... I should use fake sarcasm tags or something. I'm merely trying to fulfill the stereotype you placed upon me. * He got his revenge on that SWAT map.
Alright Esponeo, sounds good. I thought you were being serious. I try to put alot of thought into placing weapons on my maps. I'm not too good at it, but I know certain guidelines that always help me balance my weapons. A main one... don't include a weapon in a spot that seems pointless. Like the sentinel beam... it completely owns CQC. When comparing to the AR, it takes half the time to shoot/beatdown kill as the AR... and it has range... But seriously... I think you have a good feel for balance, so mostly I would trust your judgement. We are kinda lacking in the weapons balancing department here at Forge Hub. Maybe you could join my secret forging FH group to fill in that specialty? Would you be interested?
Seriously, in case everything I say in <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tags. I CANNOT BE SERIOUS. I've never really used it. It is obnoxious though. That would be super special awesome.
You think they would make up their mind seeing as how the Halo 3 one is so different than the Halo 2 one, but wasn't there two different ones in Halo 2?
