I wonder why they did the re-skin then. If its just a grav hammer with a new look then it might be hard to actually play "golf". Meh. I think i would have preffered them as regular objects. but that's just me.
Since they are movable objects I bet they would fall.... But I'm sure maybe you could do something with shield doors as a floor, so they keep bouncing up instead of falling. That would even add challenge to it.
It never would have worked properly on foundry anyways. Because there wouldn't have been much incentive to stay on the ball. I was thinking of building a map with four tunnels connecting two bases. You would have had to walk on the ball to the other base and grab the flag and roll back. The problem was the whole deathpit thing and flag reset. So, the project was scrapped. You're more than welcome to join me in starting up my idea again fresh if golfballs stay on skybox's floor.
If movable objects don't fall through the grid in forge, then they certainly will outside of forge where the grid is gone. Just like when you drop spawn a weapon or try to float a dumpster, if the game starts and it isn't supported it falls. If you found a way to do bumper balls on a platform of pallets that shrinks as the game goes on though, you'd be officially a badass.
That's what I thought, maybe since there are more golfballs I can think of something different. Edit: I think I have a solution. Let's say I make a circular platform. I place the hill on the top of the platform and make it so that you lose points when in the hill. So, the incentive will be to get on the ball. You wouldn't gain points for being outside the hill. You win when all your opponents are dead and lose points for asissinations. So you would need to 'bump' your opponets off the edge.
It worked for me the whole time, so I don't like it that the golf club is just like a grav hammer. It' stupid, cause you already get grav hammers.
You could make the area float in the air a few feet above the ground, give the players lower gravity, and when you're not in the hill it you're instant kill. The players actually still on the ball are invisible, and have brs? That way they could kill the ones that fell, but br's couldn't push other players off the golfballs... The Crypt would work, or On the skybubble there would be an edge to fall off of the floor.
The game is about 'bumping' people off the edge, sor of like hog of the hill, cept you die. If you have ever played Mario Party, you would know of the mini-game I'm referring to.
I thought you just wanted them to fall off the ball. In which case my idea would work, but if you just want them to fall of an edge, I see what you're saying about them just jumping off the golf ball to stand on the ground.
I know exactly what game you are talking about. If you can pull that off, you'll be my new best friend.
I think the only problem with that is balancing on the golf balls. If they're like the soccer balls, it might be hard to make a game type like that.
So how much budget do get then? i hope its enough to make my map, also does anybody know how long it takes to drop from the middle layer down into the crypt?
To see how long it takes to drop into the Crypt, watch the video that shows a spartan jumping down there, I'd estimate around 5 seconds, but I can't tell for certain.
Yeah it would survive... Just like a kill ball wont kill any objects, it wont kill the golf ball. Golf Ball = Object
