Shock said in a later post that the LEDs don't really stay on, just glow, not that brightly. I'd like to know what lightbulbs you're using, because if you haven't read my post about them already, CFLs save a 75% of the energy and last 10x longer. they turn on right away, and are very bright. ( not blinding though )
I dont know what lightbulbs they are. To be honest i dont think changing lightbulbs makes much of a difference. Dont get me wrong im not against the "we all do our bit " idea, i just think there are bigger ways to change, especially when having a solar pannel could probably provide enough energy for your lightbulbs. I think people should cut down on drinking coffee, and such. Kettles use far more electricity than anything else. In some houses they use more electricity than everything else in the house put together. Drink coke.
They work and behave just like normal bulbs, turning on and off instantly. And you'd be surprised how much energy it would save. Boiling water is a huge energy use though, you're dead right there.
I suppose that things will become more and more economical--as thats what the consumer wants, so that problem will be fixed eventually...ahh capitalism.
