__________________________________________________________ Intro: __________________________________________________________ Okay, well some of you saw my thread "Drawing Board: Flashpoint" so, you know I was making the map... Note: This map took me 15 mins to build, so its not very good, its just to show the idea, not that I'd actually play on it for all intensive purposes. __________________________________________________________ Pictures: __________________________________________________________ | Basic one floor structure with cover for the sniper | Basic two floor structure with barriers for cover. | A bunker like structure with a second floor. Descending cover inside, Barriers outside. | The semicircle building | The tower | The cop's barricade __________________________________________________________ Conclusion __________________________________________________________ Well, that's the one I came up with, remember though, this is a rough copy of the map! ITS NOT FINISHED! I'll be adding Aesthetics as well as changing stuff around for a while. If anyone's interested in helping me please email me at Thanks! -stickmanmeyhem
The walls/boxes/everything else is crooked and sloppy. I'm sorry and don't mean to be rude but if you want a lot of people to like and DL your maps you have to step it up. It seems kind of unoriginal, but thats all i can tell from the pictures. I hope you can prove me wrong. Good luck.
Fix this, the corner wall is very crooked and ugly. I would recommend setting up some guides on the box, so when you move the corner wall, it falls right into place. Also, the bridge on the left is poorly placed, which shows a lack on design in your map. You have to go into a scrunched place to walk up the ramp, which everyone will jump up on anyway. Rework the bridge and make it facing the center of Foundry so you don't jump up it. You never want players to have to jump on your map.
Do you idiots even read the text in posts... Notice the bolded part, he was showing a ROUGH OUTLINE, to see if we liked the LAYOUT not every single small detail. Just take a minute and read his post and you wouldn't have that problem. Now, on to commenting on it. If you were going for the city feel you need to add more building and make all of them taller, whether or not you allow them to make it to the higher floors is up to you. A few buildings can be shorter but in general most of them should not have access to the top (at like 2 single box heights). They should be around 2 DB high. You also need taller buildings and enclosed in areas as the buildings, if you went to a city you wouldn't see random stairs sticking out perpendicular to the building into the street. Since I presume you are trying to base it off of Flashpoint, something that takes place in "real" life, you want a real looking map. So there is my advice. -Coyote
Wow! I did read his intro! Yes i did say its sloppy, but i also stated that its unoriginal, and if you read AmericanPsycho's post you can see he was saying you shouldn't have to jump in maps and that he needs to fix the bridges. So why dont you STFU and read everything, especially if thats what your complaining about.
How is it unoriginal... Read his first thread... "The walls/boxes/everything else is crooked and sloppy. I'm sorry and don't mean to be rude but if you want a lot of people to like and DL your maps you have to step it up. It seems kind of unoriginal, but thats all i can tell from the pictures. I hope you can prove me wrong. Good luck." More than half your post was exactly as I described, the rest of it was simply you not paying attention and missing his point. I didn't realize that someone already made a game where 1 sniper runs from everyone else in a city-like atmosphere. So right back at you about reading things. Besides, you post didn't help him in any way, seeing as he said himself its not very good. So I don't know what to tell you, now instead of filling his thread with mindless arguing, find somewhere else to do it, he obviously won't appreciate these posts.
Reply to AmericanPsycho: The corner wall is supposed to be crooked, it may not look nice, but it plays well... Reply to ladnil: Not really... its the point of the game, and if the sniper goes into the semicircle building, he can shoot them... Reply to philthyphillup: YOU STFU! Kay, its an outline, not the actual map! CALM THE -blam!- DOWN!
with floating objects i barely do "save and quit" i always stack objects (if your running low on objects this is hard) it gets things much straighter and can be more precise
stickman, I guess you could say I was fairly active on your "Drawingboard." I now see the type of idea you were going for. You know how I said I was going to make a map based off my idea? Well I did. I would like to show it to you and give you some more ideas. Maybe even do a little forge collaboration.
