I have a symetrical map that im fine tuning for diferent game types. I have hit a wall when it comes to CTF. The flag spawns and score markers arent working for me. I have two bases. th spawn points are set to one side is attackers and one side defenders. Im not sure if this is how im sapose to do it. If any one has advice on how to properly forge a map for classice CTF anything would be nice.
You just put the Flag Spawn / Return goals on each side. Hit X on these and set them to offense/defense. On the attackers side (spawn areas will tell you if you put them down), put the Flag Spawn and Flag Return point to "attackers". I like to use Respawn Areas like : Respawn Flag Home and Respawn Flag Away. ***For CTF classic, you need to change the game variant, not the map variant. Put touch return on, I know. HERE is Halo 2's "CTF Classic 5" settings that you may want to include in the game variant's settings changes.
See thats what I thought I had to do. I made a map on foundry and both the side rooms are the starting basses. I had one side set as attackers and one as defenders (player and flag spawns) WHen I went to a custome game to make sure it worked right only one side had a flag. Also on assault wih a nuetral bomb I have the drop points set at the same place I have the flag spawn/drop. When I tested the assault mode random drop points that I did not put down, were located just outside the rooms on the lower level that. So im not sure what im doing wrong. Has anyone else had random spawn/drops show up that were not placed on the map in forge?
All maps have preset objective things (flag spawns, bomb spawns, flag return points, bomb plant point, territory markers, etc.) If you delete these without replacing them before you save the map, they will be replaced where they were because the game has certain requirements for maps (at least territory, at least 1 flag/bomb spawn for both defense and offense, at least 1 bomb plant point for both defense and offense, at least one flag return point for both defense and offense, etc.) When you place any objective items, make sure that you delete any preplaced ones to keep your map from getting screwed up. You said when you went to a custom game you only had a flag on one side. That's probably because you're playing a gametype with only 1 flag. Before starting the game press x to go into game options to make sure that the game is set to 2 flags. Concerning your neutral bomb assault, what happened is you didn't delete the preset neutral bomb point. Each map requires having 3 bomb spawns. 1 attacker, 1 defender, and 1 neutral. So on foundry there are 3 preset bomb spawn points and 2 bomb plant points. If you place any new ones, you need to go back and delete the corresponding one.
If you went into the custom game on your own then it would only show the items relevant to your Team, as the only team in the game. Try getting another person to check it with you (or connect another controller) on the other team. I don't know about the random bomb points, though... are you sure you cleared all of them when you edited in Forge? It may sound patronising, but it's best to be sure! - Gimp
I have a problem similar to this... I have made this map that is customized for SWAT and I would like to do a 1 flag CTF with the flag inside the base that the attackers have to assault. When I put 2 flag spawn and return points and delete the default points and I play a game to test it, it spawns the defenders in the attacker points. Can someone please help me?
