I know what you're going through mate, I used to have to deal with a TV from 1983 that actually had the Red, green and white wires on it. So I could play games like PS2 and Nentindo 64 with it, but it was a P.O.S.

Ya mines a bit newer, probaly about 10 years old, but its got no HD, no big fancy outlets, (it only has 1 red, 1 white and 1 yellow) and is small, which means no wide screen and a squished resolution.

Its actually ok with me because all I do on it is play xbox, I have a bigger TV three rooms away that I can watch movies on.

LCD display bright whites but will never be able to display dark colors as well as a plasma. So I guess it depends on what you hope to display. The bright colors of Halo come out in a LCD nicely but the dark, stark colors of COD4 a display perfectly on a Plasma. But you will never get those intensely white colors of a LCD. As for "burn in" that term died over a year and a half ago for plasmas. Manufactuer have burn in detection in the new models of plasma's and will reduce lighting to certain areas and dynamically reduce the amount of wear in that area. This greatly reduces the amount of burn-in. Also console have anti burn in software built in. This is standard in all the next gen consoles.

I have a 42 inch Hitachi Plasma with 1080i capability and have had no problems for 18 months of ownership. I use it constantly, almost soley for gaming and it was the top of the line when I bought it from Best Buy in December of 2006.

    I hope this helped!

Plasma screens are much better than most of you here realize. A Vendetta is right on the money; DLP televisions are no longer being developed technology-wise and will go the way of HDDVD soon. All focus is on plasma and other, newer types of displays. Any cheap TV will leave a burned in image whether it be plasma or LCD; you get what you pay for. I have a Panasonic 42" plasma screen and I was initially scared to play split-screen on it with the aspect ratio on H3, but playing for hours at a time (with my wife, no less) leaves no long term burn-in whatsoever.

I own a 46 Samsung DLP HD TV, I've had this tv for over 3 years now, Not once have I had a problem with it.. The picture is still as crisp and clear as the day I bought it.. Never had to change the Bulb, My friend however Bought a Plasma tv from Best Buy, when he got it home and turned it on it looked awesome.. Until he turned his Xbox on and ran to grab a drink.. when he came back he said his xbox dashboard was all he could see no matter what he did, Change the channel.. shut it off.. Now i'm only going off what he said So i'm taking his word for it.. But as far as i'm concerned, I'm 100% happy with the quality of my DLP TV.. Besides, If you got an accident prone roommate you don't want a plasma.. no protection to the screen.. atleast the DLP or LCD's have a hard casing to the screen to protect it from abuse.. or accident prone roommates.. lol

I agree with you about the matter of preference, But don't get me wrong.. Plasma's are a very good quality TV and the picture on most is amazing, I personally prefer the DLP's but if I had to own a plasma I wouldn't complain.
