    Greetings ForgeHubians,

I'm HotShotX, a longtime ForgeHub lurker and creator of the Cheap Ass Gamer Grifball Home Court which some of you may have seen in NOKYARD's Grifball thread.

I'm currently working on two maps that I need a bit of assistance on:

The first map is a rehash of an old favorite of mine that I forgot about long ago. Rather than search Bungie.net, I've decided to recreate it over the pit in Avalanche. The premise is simple enough: A string of 7 single, open boxes hang on teleporter receivers, allowing them to dangle, sway, and fall off if attacked enough by gravity hammers, gauss warthogs, or scoprions.

    [IMG][IMG]

Within these boxes are the players, and they can run between boxes attempting to preserve themselves as the boxes are knocked off by the attacker and fall into the pit. A KOTH gametype allows for score to be kept.

The current issue I am having with this map is the dangling aspect. Once the boxes settle on the teleporter, they become immovable, and useless. Without the original map, I can't figure out how to prevent this from happening, so any advice to keep these boxes moving freely would be appreciated. I know in the picture the boxes are slightly geomerged, which I have since fixed but even with a single standalone crate on a teleporter I cannot keep it from going immobile. I've yet to try it yet but I may have to angle the teleporter so that a single point is facing upward, but then the boxes will be ridiculously unstable.

The second map in mind came to fruition from something I tried to fix the issue on the first map. Basicially what I'm trying to so is set up 8 single open crates, place in 1-2 players and a man cannon into each, seal off the crates to keep them from falling out, "release" the crates from stasis and let them run amuck until all but one avoids careening off the cliff in Avalanche.

As with the first map, I am having the issue of keeping objects from becoming immovable. I can "drop" the mancannon and crate to get each one moving how I want them (chaotically), but I cannot do this one by one in custom games/forge and have an effective gametype, and need a way to keep the man cannon and players inside their own box.

Sorry for the number of pictures, but I felt they would help illustrate what I'm looking to do. Any advice on fixing these issues would be greatly appreciated, and will hopefully lead to two very fun gametypes and maps.

Those boxes will NEVER become imovable even through what you try to do. The best place to keep that was on Last resort, because thats the only place where the boxes are immovable. Nice try, very good thoughts, but it just can't be done on the map.

^^ Wrong, you could make this on rats nest, the single open boxes there can move. I had problems with that when I made a map on it. But after that, yes all boxes are immovable.

Shiz, forgot about Rats Nest. But Rats nest isn't as epic as the original and you can really remake the best part of the map :(

That might work for the first idea. Smaller area, but Rat's Nest does have single boxes and scorpions. It's definitely too small for the second idea, but a KOTH gametype on the first I think would definitely work. Thanks.

Feel free to keep the discussion going, I'm certainly up for a possible way to get the second idea working on a decent map, or improving the first.

Rat's Nest does indeed keep the boxes from becoming immobile, but now they simply disappear after taking a few shots from the warthog gauss or scorpion cannon. The crates aren't so far over the pit that they are out of the map, but they disappear anyway and kill everyone inside the cube when it does.
