Okay, I don't really want Halo Wars, but I really want the Mythic map pack early because China makes me bored!

So here are some questions I would like answered:

    1. I like Age of Empires, do you think I will like Halo Wars?
    2. I do live in China, will I still be able to get the maps?
    3. How do I even do it so that I get the mythic maps?

    You help me decide.

    Many thanks,
    -ER1C0

EDIT: Okay, I found out the release date in Asia:

    • Japan and Asia Pacific: Feb. 26
So I can get it earlier!

I say go for it. I'm buying my copy then selling it the minute after I download the maps. lol

Eh. It's the same type of game, but I'm not sure it really fits Halo so much, for as we know it.
There is a demo on XBL market place, maybe check that out.

China? That's sweet. I'm sure you'll still be able to get it. I really don't see why you wouldn't be able to.

If you played halo 2 you'll most likely know this. You get a disk that updates your xbox giving you the maps. Don't really know howto explain it. It downloads off the disk. I'm not sure that is the way they will be doing it but I think so.

The may also give you a code to type into the market place to make sure that everyone only gets 1 copy per hardrive per sold halo wars game.

If you need me to answer anymore questions to the best of my knowledge, message me. Or if I need to clarify anything more detailed.

Halo Wars looks a lot like command on conquer from the demo I played. I've never played Age of Empires, but if you know command and conquer, then its like that. I personally don't like it because I think RTS belongs on the PC, not the console but thats just me. I'm going to wait it out and not spend $60+

$70 for Halo Wars LE or $10 + Patience for a couple week later download. Honestly, if you don't plan on owning Halo Wars, I really fail to see the logic behind buying it. Yes, you can sell it, but you won't even make all your money back to my knowledge, not to mention it is a disgrace. Honestly, what kind of slap to the face is that for Ensemble?

I personally say, get the game for the game, get the maps for the maps, don't get both together if you don't want them both in the same package.

Halo Wars is not an RTS game that could hold its own next to any PC RTS like AoE. In order to make the controls work as well as they do, Ensemble just gives you far fewer options than any other RTS gives. That way they fit them all on the controller.

Basically imagine playing Age of Empires with half the units, only two civilization options, and the only commands any unit has available are right click and one special ability. Oh and your base is in a predetermined position/layout, so no strategy there.

okay... thanks so far but I have more questions:

    1. Do I have to preorder the game, or just buy it?
    2. If preorder, then do I have to get it from a certain place?
    3. Do I have to get the Legendary Edition or Standard or what?
I think I might do it, because I like the youtube vids about it... and I also kinda want to try ramming a bunch of aliens over, lol.

I agree. It's a waste to go out and buy it if you just want that maps, and you aren't going to play the game. Personally I like the look of Halo Wars and I like RTS's so I'm going to buy the Limited Edition. If you like Command and Conquer you will probably like this game, but don't buy it just for the maps.

It's supposed to be like a month and a half to two months just for the maps! I do have interest in the game, but I have more interest in the maps... I'm just not sure if I really want to do this, yet.

EDIT: somebody please answer my other questions.

You dont have to preorder it but thats a for sure way you will be getting them...You can also try to goto the store on opening day and snag a copy.
If you preorder you have to pick it up from a store since your in China...but idk if you can even do that. (Not quite sure since you live in China now)
You only get the Maps with Limited Edition (Same as Legendary but its actually Limited) also with the limited you get an extra hero in game and some cool other things.

But final...if you like RTS and Halo get it, or if your not 100% sure then DL the demo and try it out...I'm not a huge fan of RTS but I love the game...I find myself just playing the demo for fun even though that same skirmish level gets boring after awhile.

But if you don't like the game then the wait for the Maps on the Marketplace...well no one knows for sure....some say 2 weeks others say 1 and 1/2 months...
