Well, I know it's not like Forgehub to be giving out ideas for new maps, but I thought maybe some of you would like to make an exception... just this one little itty bit time... ... since it's soon to be Valentines and all... : ) From this point on I will highlight the main points in bright green for all of you lazy people. Okay, so you may or may not be familiar with my Sky Island series. I've made five total maps including: -Sky Island -Sky Island II -Sky Island III -Sky Island 4 -The Sky Island At first they were pretty generic and didn't involve much. At first they had platforms in the sky (which is really old by now), then at Sky Island 4 I added a large lift and a few more things, then at The Sky Island (my latest one) I added a lot better gameplay, a huge dividing wall (on Avalanche) and a huge sky island. I must admit that all of them except for my latest one have been pretty bad when it comes to gameplay, but this thread is to discuss how I can make it better. So I would like to know: -What types of vehicles do people like -What weapons are your favorites -What would you say would be key factors for gameplay, besides spawning placement -Anything else you have to say I know that some think sky islands are very old by now, but I would just like some ideas just in case I decide to make another one or a new map altogether.. Thank you very much, your lovey dovey Chinah kid, -ER1C0 p.s. I posted a poll for your favorite vehicle
I doubt asking people about their favorite vehicle/weapon will do much to improve your map as some people like vehicles due to their look instead of their gameplay value. From the pictures, the problem with your maps seem to be the lack of cover. I would advise only one air vehicle. Maybe a Hornet. Base the gametype around the Hornet as well. Maybe each team has one Hornet and two Banshees each and the Islands are quite a distance from each other. Maybe add a long narrow bridge in the centre. Maybe the map can be a floating ring withen a ring and the objective is assault. One team spawns all around the outside ring and the defense spawns on the inside. Thinking up maps in the sky is easier if their objective based, for me at least. The main thing here is to ask yourself, "Why am I making my map in the sky?" or "Can I make this map on the ground?" and "What advantages does making the map in the sky give my map an advanatage over a normal land map?"
