___________ D E S C R I P T I O N _______________ I've always wanted to Forge something on Ghost Town, and one of the ideas that always lingered in my head was blocking off a section and creating it into it's own map. That's what I've essentially done with 'Hush of Night'. Hush of Night is a smaller map, made for four to eight players. The setting is a jungle ruin in the middle of the night. Hush of Night features a perfectly balanced weapon set, a flow to the map that reminds you of a river, and impeccable level design. This map was difficult to make, especially in the hard-to-geomerge environment that is Ghost Town. But, I managed to create a nice little map perfect for Team Slayer or Slayer. I'm quite pleased with my final product, and I'm hoping that you will be as well. Please, do not judge by the screenshots. The screenshots simply cannot show you how the map feels. You need to play the map to get the feel for it. Download and play before leaving a negative comment or rating. _____________ G A M E T Y P E S _____________ Hush of Night is set up for every gametype (except Capture the Flag), but I strongly reccomend only using: -Team Slayer -Slayer -Oddball -King of the Hill __________________________ W E A P O N S & E Q U I P M E N T __________________________ The weapons and equipment of Hush of Night proved to be a trying experience of balancing for me. I knew I wanted the Rocket Launcher as the main power weapon and interest area, but, due to the smaller map size, choosing weapons and equipment was a daunting task. After hours of testing, here is a great formula that I've developed for the map. x1 Rocket Launcher [180 sec. respawn, 1 spare clips, place at start] x2 SMG [30 sec. respawn, 2 spare clips, place at start] x2 Battle Rifle [30 sec. respawn, 2 spare clips, place at start] x1 Mauler [90 sec. respawn, 1 spare clips, place at start] x4 Plasma Grenade [10 sec. respawn, place at start] x1 Bubble Shield [60 sec. respawn, place at start] ________________ S C R E E N S H O T S _______________ _____________ D O W N L O A D ____________
well there has certainly not been a ghost town map posted in a while! looks pretty good from what i can tell. no offense, but i hate screenshots that have visual filters on. it makes it so hard to see maps for wat they really are! :O i'll give the map a try though!
With the FX i can't tell too much about it, but it looks fun to play on(i think it would be good with infection)i DL and see how it is
Yeah, that's the point I was trying to get across in the bold text. The gloomy effect on the map does not do justice to the screenshots.
Just so anyone who doesn't read the original post but somehow managed to look at mine: OP: In your description you said you were going for a "jungle ruin in the middle of the night" type feeling. I must say that you have done just that. The gloomy effect was a well chosen FX for your map and gives it a "film noir" type presence. Creating a competitive map within a section of a map (not including foundry) is a hard task and I congratulate you for your efforts, which have actually turned out to be quite a success. As you have said, the pictures do not do the map justice but if you (reffering to the DL'ers) are able to look past the pictures you can see a well thought out design and idea.
from the picture yes the map looks gloomy and kinda down but i dont see what u really did to the map other then make it gray i see some geomerging but not alot so yeah ill D/L to check it out but from the pictutures 3/5 thanks its okay keepdoing it
Went around it, and I must say, I am pretty impressed. Except for some things. The idea is very creative, a 2v2 style map in a section on Ghost Town. Knowing that it is dark, there are some spots in the map where it is really hard to see someone which makes the gameplay not that good in those terms. You seem to have the rocket and the mauler a little too close together. I suggest putting the mauler in the white room where the downward ramp is.
I'll give it a DL. Will be interesting to see how you chose to block off the areas. I know that when I did my Ghost Town variant a few weeks ago, it was a very time consuming process to geomerge. From your description, I see that you appreciate the natural environments of maps. I can respect that. Keep forging.
Hmm this is kinda cool. You don't see many Slayer maps with FX on them, but I think you pulled this one off nicely with the "Middle of the Night in the Jungle" theme. The weapon placement would be ok for a smaller amount, but does seem kind of scarce for a larger amount of players. Overall I dont think there is much else to make it any better, so Two thumbs up from me
Ah, yeah, I was thinking about that too. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. As for the darkness, I wanted it to be rough on the sight, but I was also thinking about adding a Flare onto the map. (The flare has the effect of making the lighting seem normal.) Thanks for all the comments. Just remember (I.E. waterflame) download before commenting.
I DL'd this and it wasn't that great. There wasn't much on the map and the filter made everything impossible to see. I removed the filter and the only thing i saw was a couple things blocked off, one geomerged box, and a few doors for cover. 2/5
And I'm assuming you didn't play it at all. Or even read my disclaimer. Forgehub, ladies and gentlemen.
