Forging Theory: My Anti-Foundry

    I love it, amazing entry. (I've been following FH every since the Gundam got featured, but I didn't make an account,) and this really does remind me off all the Pre-DLC maps all made. I didn't have Xbox Live, so I would always work so hard to re-create the maps featured in FH. I have to say, I never go bored of working on Pre-DLC. When i got the Heoric map pack, it was already too late, no matter what i worked on, it would never stand out to even me when compared to the other maps. Legendary map pack just always seemed more appealing to me, because it wasn't used enough, and the un-even floor made it mroe interesting to work on.

    I have to say, because of this article, I think i might want to post some of my really old maps on Pre-DLC

    I do enjoy this post because I am a guy that does in fact love using the screen effects to there best potential. Theres only a few maps where they are able to be used on and it seems as if they are forgoten . Not all innovative forges are found on Foundry many in fact have been found on pre-dlc maps. Many have yet to be found as well on our existing maps ,and what forgehub needs now is more creative and innovative maps instead of knockoffs of whats "Hot" this week. I see non foundry maps as a challenge and more rewarding once you have completed a good map where many people have thought that a certain map is not forgeworthy. I enjoyed your entire post AZN FTW and im glad your back on the scene we need more old blood to show how forgings done. :]

    I've been around Forgehub pretty much since the Day it came online. I didn't join because I wasn't interested in forums and posting maps seemed complicated. To tell you the Truth I still haven't posted a map. All the maps I've made on Pre-DLC haven't been unique or good in anyway. When Foundry came out I was inspired by all the cool creations that came out and I made so many maps. Soon I realized new objects didn't make you a better forger. After a long stream of Brilliant creations maps seemed to lose their flare and all the maps I made, I deemed unworthy and were promptly deleted. I've had so many good ideas but foundry didn't work and they were cast down and lost forever. Until Recently. I got my Spark back and within the last week I've made 4 maps that play and differently and have some new qualities. I will proudly make my first post after they have been tested and tweaked, and Foundry will be out of my life for good. Thanks for reading.

    I think I'll try a few different maps on pre-dlc but I am very much looking forward to Sandbox and all the goodies that go along with it :] I already have a few ideas on that map and i'll take your advice on natural place ment of items on it and screen effects. I hope to see more non foundry maps as well it gets old seeing the same colors and textures that foundry offers.

    I don't think it's even the fact that Foundry is being overused... it's the fact that it seems like everyone feels that certain things need to be certain ways. Lots of people think that double boxes and bridges need to be facing with the bottom viewable... so EVERYONE does it... and it makes things look the same across everyone's maps. So instead, only flip where needed. I explain this more in my "Visual Perception" Article. But like Sage and I have been remaking Labyrinth for the past week on Foundry, and it looks nothing like the current maps because textures are used in the right place at the right time... it just takes a good "feel" for textures...

    Also Octoplex by Octodeath is a good example of proper Texture usage at the right time... that's why I like his map... he has a few spawn problems, but overall his map is gameplay quality...

    very deep azn, i agree that there are a lot of ideas people could use to make fun addictive mini-games off of foundry, there is probably a few ideas still that could be very big and blow foundry away.

    I made a map on Epitaph called Carapace once, before I heard of the High Rails map. Only difference is that it sucked. :/

    I know it sounds gay (*disclaimer:not that there's anything wrong with that) but you have made my heart melt AZN. I don't know how you did it but you have successfully described what is wrong with this community and how to fix it.

    Thank you AZN now we can have some non-foundry maps that are all unique and not the same map in a different layout.
