Current map status for Point Blank: - Brainstorming: Complete - Structural forging: Complete - Spawns: Complete - Weapon Set: Still brainstorming - Testing: Will need in near future Point Blank is a very unique Blackout map. My idea from this map came from a couple sources. First was Forgehub, and noticing that essentially the only time Blackout was used was for floating maps above it. Why not use Blackout? After, when I was thinking of what I could do with this map, I thought back to the good ol' days of daily customs and maps like Palooza and Crouch v.2. They were very straightforward, with few ways from point A to point B. With Sniper and SWAT variants, these games were fun and action packed. So I decided to go with that style on Blackout. Point Blank eliminates various structures, including bottom mid, lift room, below lift room, and sword spawn. The room above sword spawn is split in two to serve somewhat as optional spawns for players in CTF when the flag is away. Teams spawn at Sniper tower and BR tower, and must fight their way across a heated battlefield. I'm expecting this map will be best with around 2v2 to 4v4. Its gametypes will be Sniper CTF; Multi Flag with timing options changed and sniper starts, and SWAT CTF; Multi Flag with SWAT settings and different flag timing options. It has lots of scenery (Barrels, crates, etc.) because I really wanted the map to feel unique. I didn't want it to resemble other Blackout maps, or any other map for that matter. For that reason, there is indeed a juicy filter on the map. You still see fine, and it further makes Point Blank look more like its own map. I'll need testers. Captions are below the corresponding image. Looking out into the middle of the battlefield from Sniper Tower. The pallet stairs you see is a geomerged staircase with pallets over it, to avoid any confusion. You can't drop down to bottom sniper tower from there. Looking out into the middle from above this time. The cover, both immovable and movable, proves to be your best friend in this map, especially given the games you'll be playing. Both Snipers and SWAT require little firing in order to kill. Keep your head down. From the back of the sniper tower base. The box is merged through the antennae and the floor, eliminating access to the lift tower. Looking out into the BR tower base. The flag spawns on the top floor, while the players spawn on the middle floor. This room (Library room is it called?) is split into two sides, and each serve as somewhat as a spawn hive. Players can throw 'nades over the door, but can't go through this room. Still only one way from point A to point B. That's why, if you like Conquest, you'll probably like Point Blank.
Sorry pal, but names aren't exactly copyrighted. It's one thing if it's a name of a historical, featured map with an original name such as Recalcitrance, but if it's a common word, I won't be changing it...
This looks like it could be really interesting, but I'll just have to wait to test it. From here it looks kind of.... cluttered? Thats not really a good word but I can't describe it. Idk, I'll just check it out once you get the weapons set.
With the gametypes it uses, because kills require one or two bullets (SWAT, Snipers CTF) every item there is crucial for cover. It has a small middle to force battles, much like Conquest. I look forward to testing it, because I feel it really has a chance to be entirely different from other maps here.
I specialize in making sense . But yeah, I'll make sure to. The weapon set should be fairly simple. A regenerator in the middle, BRs scattered, the occasional nade, and a couple dual wield combinations. I've removed spawns in both bottom rooms (Except for attackers in One Flag games) to make the battles more direct. You can't avoid people as effectively.
