Hello, any person who reads this. I am desperately trying to get a map design going so I can post something on here I am proud of. (The other map I posted was kinda horrible) I am down to two possible main features for the map. I am far from having the layout done, FAR from that, but when I design something I usually work around a main feature. I wanted to see if my two current possibilities were alright, and also to make sure they weren't too similar to anyone's previous map else. So, yeah: #1 #2
I think the second one is def more original, and I think you could make some aestheticals in the middle. The first has been overused, but is easier to work with, since you don't have to replicate to sides, just one giant square. Your choice, your forging the map, but if I was (and I will help if needed) I would go with plan B.
The second design is actually already in forged (minus the corners), but it came out sort of sloppy and bumpy. I was also kind of mind-blocked for how to continue, and figured a new design might be better.
I like the look of the first one better, but I'd add a platform in the center of the square as a level 2-3 jump. Reminds me of that Mario Kart 64 level that I don't know the name of.
What program did you use to create those designs? I'd like to use that before I randomly start going at it in Forge. EDIT: Also, how would you get it perfectly symmetrical in Forge, is there a way ?
i like the second one way better, but maybe little more aesthetics like everyone else is saying. a map can get 2000 times more downloads if you have aesthetically pleasing environments.
He used "Google Sketchup" and to make it symmetrical, you just make what you made on one side but on the other. It's kinda easy cuz Foundry is symmetrical (Kinda).
Fore symmetry I usually use the grid-like lines made from the foundry floor panelings. Anything above that is kinda hit-and-miss for me.
Oh, and Composite Ghost... I think the second one looks best. But will you be using the back rooms at all? Make sure when making those stairs to have no cracks between them and the default Foundry walls. That way you don't get stuck in there like on Default Foundry. Also, please no bumps... I might try to make this design and see how it looks. I won't steal it though! I'm just bored because nobody has given me anything to do to work on my map...
Thanks, I'm downloading Google SketchUp now, but how do you get the forge models in it? EDIT: Nevermind, I googled it and found a pack.
Does SketchUp take a lot of space on your computer? I haven't gotten it yet... gimme all the details please! Lolz, fine. If you do make a map with the second one... you'd better make it look good!
Sorry for derailing your topic, but I may as well answer his question >< SketchUp took up about 44.7mb so it isn't that much. @Composite Ghost I personally liked the second design a lot better than the first, the first seems like its been done before.. Oh, and a question. In SketchUp, how do you make it so the objects press up against one another instead of going into each other.
