    Super Smash Bros!

(So what if we spent half of our time forging the map spelling out our own names?)

Here's a pretty fun map with it's own custom gametype(s). We made a Super Smash Bros stage in forge. The goal is simple - stay alive while trying to push others off. All players are invulnerable and can only die by falling. Assassinations also work, though that's only because we can't remove them.

The first gametype is pretty simple, and it's the same thing I usually play in SSB. 3 man stock. Three lives, and then you're dead. Next is the timed brawl - with standard scoring (kills +1, deaths -1).

This is an early version of this map. Further updates will include a bigger stage (the current one is pretty small) and maybe some gravity adjustments.

    Here's a screenshot:

Boxes eventually spawn (with various rather useless powerups) but I'm currently unsure on how to make them more movable. Like I said, this is an early version, but I'd still like some input on what should be changed in future versions. Enjoy!

Dayyyummm thats fantastic and really original.
How did you get those bridges to float like that??

    /jk

i suggest you just wait and release the bigger version first.
    And just dis-regard this one.

Well, I didn't really expect anybody to be surprised by floating bridges. We were actually originally going to make it in Foundry with teleporters that killed you on the floor, but we thought this made much more sense. It's really only floating because that's how Super Smash Bros is.

It's not all that bad as far as size goes. The gravity is set to 150%, so anything significantly larger would start to get too big.

I agree with teh Y35, other than it's already released so... the only thing to do is make it better. I suggest making a bigger stage so there is room for objects. I think you should use crates and wire spools to simulate item crates/barrels. I also think there should be some destructible platforms (pallets on teles), but only if you're going to make a map like the more complicated ones. lots of people seem to like Final Destination and the like. also: use equipment! smash is all about the items (if you play the way most people do). also try using weapons on the map, but only if they compare in power to the starting weapon. if you think it would be helpful I could try to implement these myself or forge with you. I could do that pretty much any time Tuesday 1/27/09 after 4:00 P.M. until Friday. otherwise, good luck with version 2 (or maybe just pretend the next one's V1). I'll PrivateMessage if I come up with anything else good.

Is this just bridges floating off of standoff? If it is im sorry but it lacks originality. Maybe more pictures would show a bit more. Also is the actual map blocked off, so you cant just Gravity Hammer Jump over there? Maybe think of some more original ideas to add onto it, to make it a bit harder. Like anything at all. Maybe Man Cannons that shoot fusion coils, so you have to dodge them as well? Thats just a quick idea, but it would at least make it a bit more fun and original, think of things like that maybe. Good luck on Changes. :)

There's bridges. Boxes spawn with items below them at various times. To get the items, you have to move the boxes. Some of the items are useless, but useful items (like the flare and active camo) spawn later.

I made a map alloooongggg time ago exactly like this. It was on blackout and was bigger though. but i did the same thing as you, i made it so there were boxes and underneath them were weapons. I also made it so weapons fall through the air half way through the game. Maybe you should try doing that, i just made a grav hammer spawn above the map and it would fall down like the game. Well make more changes and yours might turn out better than mine.

the general idea of "environmental hazards" fits in very nicely with smash bros, and would add some drama and fun to the map. I'm going to download this and see what's already there. I thing it's overdue that someone make a really good smash bros map.

We currently have boxes that spawn with items below them after certain durations. We decided to make the initial items useless as more of a joke, but I think we'll make sure all items are useful next time we work on it. The last two items that spawn are the most useful (active camo and flare). We'll probably add some flying fusion coils or wire spools for good measure, too.

    Thank you for the feedback.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I should probably also add that we kept the map plain and weaponless because we wanted to focus more on gravity hammer smashing and not standard slayer.
