I've been working with photoshop for about two years now, but I recently got bored with it after taking a graphic design class in college(In which we were overworked with 3-5 assignments at a time, one would be due and another one would be added so we were constantly working). So this is the first one I've done in about two to three months, Criticism is welcome, although having completely negative comments isn't very constructive, tell me what you like, what you don't like, what you think I could improve on, maybe I need to tone it down? Tell me. If you'd like to see more of my work, just ask and I can put up some of my old stuff.
I don't like any of them. They are all flat and the colors are contrasting. Bad composition. Bad text too.
I don't have a lot of varying style and I usually do what I like, also, you may have noticed I'm not "going with the flow" The sigs that I showed are the grunge style that was popular last year, and a lot of people liked them and wanted them, the newer styles which I've seen here and everywhere that has become popular is the borders on the top and bottom with flat backgrounds and a layer that pops out, then the render, usually sharpened or highlighted with high contrast. I myself don't really like the style and stick to the 1px black or white border with contrasting background. And the color combinations are the kind that I like. Although I thank you for the criticism, you didn't even read(or care about) what I said. But any and all criticism is still welcome, although I'm hoping for some more constructive criticism soon. Thank you.
I like it. It looks interesting but I feel like you might want to change the blackish colour inbetween the green and purple to something that blends better because I feel like the black sticks out too much.
Actually, I read every word you typed. It did not have any of that information in it. Maybe you should try varying your style. And no that is not the current style. It's called stocks.
I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Dizfunky. And from my experience it has become the more popular style, especially in the borders. And I know what stocks and renders are. I use renders myself, so I tend to call them that.
Different borders usually mean different things. Almost like unwritten rules. The widescreen bars (black bars on top and bottom, sometimes side to side) often mean that it was posted on another graphics community, has a lot more effects and is a bit more advanced and newer to the community. The 1px thing, usually means you've been doing it on other communities for a couple of years, and the signature itself, either doesn't have a lot of effects or is just a request. I mean, not really written rules. But that's usually what happens.
btw: you should use stocks, it's easier to smudge personally and has a couple of more options than renders. I used to be a render type of guy but i've changed after using stocks a first couple of times.
Vinny, although I've never heard of that before, I was going by what I've witnessed and heard since I started using photoshop, but I do appreciate the help, and I suppose it makes a little sense, I'll have to check, although I'm a bit skeptic. And thanks for the advice on stocks, I've used them, and in some situations they are nice to work with(for me at least).
I believe with stocks it is much easier to make sigs that flow Not to mention, they are much more readily available Different communities all have different preferences 2
