For whoever has the Handbrake software where you can write movies into any other format, how do you get the mp4 files to play on an iPod? I burned a movie off of a DVD into mp4 format and it says it can't e played on my ipod.

Hey Texn, so open up the DVD in handbrake, don't open up the file because handbrake won't convert video files, only DVDs will. Use MPEG Streamclip for files already on your hard drive. So open it up in Handbrake, and on the right side, there should be a slideout tray that will have alot of presets on it. to open this tray up, click the presets icon on the top right corner.

I got it converted into an mp4 and loaded it into iTunes, but when I try to add it to my iPod, it gives me a box that says it can't be played on my iPod so it won't copy it.

EDIT: Wait, wait, I got what you were saying. Thanks, this helped.

Also, what's the difference between Handbrake and Toast? Isn't one just a disk download?

handbrake overrides copyright protection on DVDs and puts them as a format playable by a computer (or in this case ipod).

Toast doesnt do that I believe. It burns any media to DVD.
