Huh. What? Are these any good? Edit: Okay, I tried out the Firedownload one and it was a piece of crap. The file didn't even download, it cut off part of the link a few times, etc. The non-Firedownload file downloaded like it usually does, but the Firedownload one didn't download at all.
I downloaded, I will be trying them out. If they are unsuccessful, any/all add-ons to Firefox are easily removable.
worst addon ever created. Doesn't even work. It just downloads an .exe file instead of the file I wanted. Guess what happens when I run it? A nice command prompt opens up, and it crashes. Great. And don't tell me its alpha, this is bull-****
You don't know what BitTorrent is? Wow, I just have nothing to say. If you don't know what torrenting is, you must be so no technologically knowledgeable. And Tex, what you linked to IS BitTorrent, but it does not actually show just what torrenting is. Also, BitTorrent sold out to big media, so they suck.
Hm, I'll have to take a look at that later. Is it like Limewire, basically? I don't know anything, don't laff at mai faic.
It's like Limewire except 1000x better. If you're going to look into it, I suggest using Azureus. It's the best client.
Back in the day I used bittorrent to download movies. I stopped, because I didn't feel like waiting to watch the movie. Instead I go to the store and buy my movies. I don't regret it either, because lost season 3 and four look amazing in blu-ray. However, bittorrent is fairly easy to use. You dl the program bittorrent and find sites to download torrent files off of. Basically what torrenting is a bunch of people sending peices of files to each other to peice together a full file. So you're downloading bits and peices from multiple users.
I like Bitlord. It takes very little system resources compared to Vuze. Plus I only torrent on my old computer and if it is safe I move it to my new computer. For the most part it is safe, unless you try to download some lesser known things, then you can get in trouble.
I use uTorrent as well. I tested both these add-ons and they work perfectly fine. I don't understand why you guys are having problems though. I tested my download speed on a couple files with the download add-on and with the add-on I am getting about +100KB/s download speed and it works fine. So yeah... The torrent works perfectly well as well, though I prefer to use uTorrent seeing how I can schedule them. Either way I have had no problem with these add-ons o.o
BitTorrent itself is not illegal; downloading copyrighted material is. Illegal content will not be tolerated on this site. Do whatever you want, but if you post it here, you'll be infracted.
Exactly, for example the most popular way to download a Linux distro is through torrenting. Infact I'm pretty sure it's the only way to get Ubuntu [without ordering a disc from them] It's been said that Windows should have released the 7000 beta through torrenting because, as a lot of us saw, the servers couldn't handle all the traffic. Through MS doesn't have the guts to say anything like that =P Torrenting has a lot of legitimately useful purposes.
Nah, Ubuntu has a download link (I'm 90% sure), but the torrent is definitely the way to go on that front, downloads can unexpectedly stop and make you restart the whole thing.
