what do we think about infection and its maps? well i think that infection can be a great game to play. but because if i kept going onn there would be nothing more to say so i want to know what everyone else thinks about it
This should be in forge discussion. I love infection personally, so many custom types you can make off of it. Generally it's infection, but I love any type of minigame.
No this is the right place. Anyway I will agree that somtimes, if played correctly, an infectin game can be incredibly fun. But most of the time kids make games where its either Fat Kid, or insta die zoom-bies.
I agree, Infection often focuses on making a game for the humans, the Zombies are just canon fodder, those ones get dull quick if you're a horribly under powered zombie watching the humans get spree after spree.
I'm not a huge fan. Some variants are done very well, but for the most part... infection maps are rushed and turn out to not have great gameplay
Though I like competitive games I often end up feeling that infection is my favorite. The amount of customization is great and in the right hands the game can actually be fun. Almost all the maps I have made are geared towards infection and I have been able to really make a balanced infection game from repeated trial and error. Fat Kid is by far the worst but it can be made into a fun gametype as seen in the ingenious map Purple Bunker played with Purple Monsters. I believe that when making an infetion gametype you should never make the zombies weak. I might up the human damage meter but will never turn the zombie into a useless running piece of target practice. Survival should be difficult and it is good to keep ammunition low and spread out. Its too bad that people on forgehub always have a bad impression of infection and the group on this site that I am part of is seeking to change that. if you are interested in balanced and fair infection just follow the link in my sig
Infection done right is one of the greatest never-gets-old things ever. But normally on live, if you pop into an infection party, it's the same boring thing over and over. You never get something good and unique, that was well thought out and made good. You have to organize a game for that, and I'd rather not if I'm only wanting to play it to blow the time away.
I am rarely a fan of infection. Most every game I play, it is swarming with immature kids, or grown up dicks. They have little patience, and what they see as fun, is things being too easy. I get invited into these games, and immediately find myself in the middle of another, terrible infection. I am a human, inside a house. It is full of shotguns, tight corners, rooms with machine guns at every entrance, a warthog just outside, and people with 50 kills. I yawn, and leave in short time, because it is just so boring being so easy. Other times, I find myself as the zombie in that case, and I quit, as do others, when they become a zombie, because it just sucks. Little kids, want to have fun, think the best way to feel high and mighty is make zombies pieces of crap. Or, sometimes, they make the zombies beasts, invisible, fast, 1 hit kills. Humans have no fun, because there isn't a challenge level, it is just sheer luck if you survive. Another issue, is the camping. Infection is about the camping I find, or at least, that is how people treat it, even if camping fails. This is Halo 3, and trust me when I say, it is hard to make sitting in one spot for lengths at a time fun. The only way, is by making camping the rule all strategy when there are weak zombies around, and you get a shotgun. You should be moving, and want to move, need to move. Weapons shouldn't be all powerful, but hard to get, with limited ammo, for the stronger weapons. These games need balance, and most of the time they don't have it. So ya, that is a little outline of why I dislike Infection. Chrst and I are attempting to change that though, by making Manifest, a series of infection games made by 2 people who hate infection. If we can like it, we are quite positive that others will as well. So far, we haven't been disappointed with the results.
Well it depends on what Gametype it is and what Map it's played on, specifically. I don't wanna play a gametype where the zombie spawns in the middle of Foundry while the Humans spawn outside the map/barrier giving the Zombie infinite amount of kills; equals fail. I usually don't play any real "custom" Infection gametypes/maps. Unless a featured map here, on FH, then maybe. But the ones I usually play are the MM ones; Brains, Save One Bullet, etc. Also the maps as well; Haunted Manor, Club Dead, etc.
