Hey guys, its come to my attention recently that while on xbox.com I was noticing a lot of exclusive **** that I couldn't find on my 360. I quickly checked and it turns out I was on the US version of the site. I turned on my 360 and made a silver account based in the US, and when it was done I had so much more content! I live in Hong Kong so on my main account my locale is set to right here. But what I'm wondering is, is there any way to make my Hong Kong account to an American one? its a little hard going back to my old account once I've tried netflix and all the exclusive **** you guys have.

Edit: 12 hours since posting and still no replies?

I thought there was a console ban in China. How do you get XBL?

I'll have to set up a US account. I'm currently on a UK gold account.

Nah theres no console ban in China, even if there was Hong Kong would still be allowed. I get XBL cause its a supported area.

Aye, Hong Kong used to be a British Protectorate and thus is allowed the freedoms of a capitalist system because China can collect taxes.
China is SLOWLY moving towards a mixed economy as our own but they say they're communist still.

As for changing your account to US, I doubt you can since I think that there are separate servers.

Well that kinda sucks, thanks for letting me know though. Guess I'll just use my silver account to get the content.

It's not an enforced law, the police won't smash your 360 up because you own it. I don't see why the ban exists, but I read about it in 2007. Maybe it's been lifted? Anyway, no, even with so-called peer-to-peer servers, you can't just make a US account. Sorry china man.

What you can try to do (but I can give you guarantee that it will work), is go to your Xbox Live email you have linked to your Account, and try changing the location.
Or, try changing it on the Xbox itself.
It might be too late, but there's no harm in trying.

...Or you could call Xbox Support (a nightmare) and just tell them you moved back to the U.S. so you need it changed and ask them how,

i heard about tht china ban a friend posted it on my facebook tht is messed up!

"According to a CNBC news report, a new mandate by the Chinese government requires online games to have monitoring software for users younger than 18 with built-in warnings to stop and exercise after three continuous hours of play, and to stop playing after five hours. Gamers must wait a minimum of five hours before returning to gameplay, or the system will not reset. Minors who violate this new mandate may be required to attend an Internet Addiction Clinic if they don't reform. Also, to play online, gamers will be required "to register with a real name and ID card number so that the system knows if they are under 18 or not"
