so we all hate that we have to burn objects on keeping people in our maps. this is a new way i just thought of for keeping people on maps that float outside levels without people jumping back on the original map. it combines the koth method with a sink line. what you do is create a hill around the playing area of your map, and than set the player gravity to 300 outside the hill but normal inside. that way if you try to jump to other parts of the map, you just fall. this keeps people from having to make barriers floating to keep people from jumping back to the base map. hope this helps. -Teaco
This is actually in Forging 101, you can set the hill settings to lose kills when you step outside the boundaries. I'd say it's most useful when making maps on Avalanche or other large maps. EDIT: My mistake, I see what you're saying, good idea.
Good idea, but the issue with it is the same with the KOTH method, that being the fact that your map will need custom gametypes, and will not work with CTF and other objective games.
so what happens when you fall down on accident and lose like 50 kills while waiting do die. The before idea is good but like said requires custom gametypes to do it and that destroys maps that would normaly play better at CTF. I block all my maps off the normal way. All the good maps don't use this. Transfusion, Interobang. it is all about creativity. If you are making a map like eight emerald legs make it play into your map. You could do something that your map is centered off of and instead of block the map of just make the entire map play for veichals. Improviseing my friend. Some maps can't use this though so it wouldn't work.
That's not what he's saying. He's saying make the hill increase their gravity so they can't jump into normal boundaries.
No, actually he said this: That way, people will fall faster and immediately fall to their death rather than be able to jump over into normal bounds. BTW, the max gravity is 200% and I don't think that's enough to stop people from jumping into the map unless your map is really far from normal boundaries. Even then, many ppl don't bother blocking off the map because honestly, what are you gonna do when you're down there away from all the action?
That's what I just said... Wtf? Did you even read what I said or did you just feel like quoting someone to make your spam post that sentence longer? -.-
No, you said the complete opposite of what Teaco said. He said that the hill has normal gravity but everywhere else has higher gravity.
