This is my second serious map that I have finished, Olympus: Supported Gametypes All! Suggested Gametypes Olympus plays great for slayer based gametypes, but is also very fun for one sided objective and control based games like One Bomb, Territories, or One Flag. It also plays great as a zombie map! Discription Olympus is a four leveled, symmetrical map with a signature staircase leading up to the top level in the front. The top level includes a sword spawn, a hole to drop down to the third level in the center, and the pillars in the front. Players can ascend to the top level in a variety of different ways: The teleporter on the right side, the vertical mancannon on the left side, the grav lift in the back, or up the stairs in the front. Everything other than the stairs brings you to the 3rd level where you can use crates to easily jump to the fourth level or cross to the other side through the 3rd level tunnel. Under the third level is the rocket cavern created by the surrounding walls of the Olympus complex. Under that is four perpendicular tunnels with a grav lift in the center. Controlling the top level offers a significant tactical advantage, but be careful not to be overly trusting of your motion detector with four levels! Screenshots Front of Olympus, at the bottom of the stairs: The left, mancannon side with sniper spawn on the third level: Back left corner of the mancannon side with stairs up to the third level: Back of Olympus with the rocket cavern, grav lift from the 1st level, and grav lift to the third level: Teleport quickly to the third level on the right side of Olympus: Enter the top level through the pillars at the top of the stairs: -Action Pics- Running into a Sentenial Beam in the rocket carvern: Using hight to an advantage: Battling it out on the signature staircase to the top of Olympus: Download Olympus
Really? Oh well I think it fits, if anyone can think of one better, please let me know. Edit: Also, a little feedback on the actual map instead of the name would be nice.
From the pics it looks pretty cool.. I like the stairs out front. They have a certain artistic value to me. However its pointless for me to que for DL see'n that my Xbox broke today. **sigh** From the look of the pics its not bad tho. GJ
Thanks for the feedback, I think the stairs kind of have an artistic value also. Im sorry your xbox is broke, no fun!
Looks pretty straightforward. Their isn't really anything majorly innovative, but there is nothing wrong with that. I like the action shots.
Yes I wasn't going for anything majorly innovative as far as interlocking or merging goes, although there is some! Also, I haven't really seen any maps that are really even similar to the geometry of this map. Mainly I wanted a fun map I could whip out for any gametype when I am playing customs with my friends and this one has really been a favorite. I have had a lot of people say it doesn't feel like foundry anymore when you play it. Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep it commin!
I think the name Olympus fits better for this map than any other name i can think of. Especially with the pillars and the sword placement, it really looks like a temple or something.
Thanks bob, maybe a rename to The Temple or something similar might be better, what do you guys think?
